2017 Super Bowl Quarterback Props Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Dave Schwab - 1/30/2017
The starting quarterbacks for each NFL team in a Super Bowl will normally command a great deal of attention in the days leading up to the big game, but with the New England Patriots playing the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI in Houston on Sunday, Feb. 5, the starting quarterbacks are the story in this matchup.
2017 Expert Super Bowl Picks: Betting Predictions For Patriots vs. Falcons
by Alan Matthews - 1/27/2017
Think about what amazing championship games we have had in 2016 and early '17. Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Cavaliers and Warriors in Oakland brought us the "Block" and gave the city of Cleveland its first-ever NBA title. Game 7 of the World Series between the Cubs and Indians in Cleveland brought us the "Rain Delay" and gave the North Side of Chicago its first World Series title in 108 years.
2017 Super Bowl MVP Predictions with Odds and Expert Betting Picks
by Chris Vasile - 1/27/2017
The NFL is and always has been a league driven by superstar quarterbacks, and it only makes sense that on the biggest stage of them all that the QBs tend to shine and lead their team to glory. The Super Bowl MVP has been awarded to a quarterback seven times out of the last 10 seasons. However, two of the last three MVP awards have gone to a defensive player.
2017 Super Bowl Public Action Betting Report
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2017
I'm a geek for betting action, and this year's Super Bowl is like geek Christmas. It's just fascinating. I love watching how lines are set and how they move, and I like trying to figure out why they are doing what they are doing. It's fun to do for any sporting event that has odds set for it. The Super Bowl, though, is a whole different animal. All the other events act in basically the same ways. Some get more action than others, but they respond to the same basic things.
Super Bowl Props Expert Picks: Quarterback Passing Props Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2017
The quarterbacks are the stars of the game of football, and in this Super Bowl we have two of the biggest stars out there. That means that it is going to be one heck of a quarterback matchup. And that, in turn, means that the Super Bowl passing props, which are always interesting, hold particular appeal this year. Here are five of the more interesting props offered (odds are from BetOnline):
2017 Super Bowl Totals Predictions and Expert Picks for Over or Under Betting
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2017
I don't really like betting totals. I just don't care about them that much. As a guy who spends his days writing about sports betting, that's not the kind of thing I should probably admit, but it's a fact. Here's my thing - a two-touchdown victory is impressively dominant to me whether it's a 17-3 game or a 48-34 game. I'm a winner and loser guy, and I like to think about how much teams are going to win by and how well different players are going to perform. And I hate nothing more than having a totals bet ruined by some meaningless point scored in garbage time. Totals are mostly just boring to me.
2017 Super Bowl Props Picks: Betting Advice for Rushing Totals
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2017
This is a great matchup of quarterbacks for Super Bowl LI. It would be tough not to be excited about it. The same can't be said necessarily, though, about the showdown between running games. It's not horrible by any means - both teams have a 1,000-yard rusher and some running back depth. This just doesn't have the feeling of a game that is going to be decided by who can grind out the yards on the ground.
2018 Super Bowl Early Betting Odds with Expert NFL Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2017
Proving that it's never too early to look ahead, BookMaker posted futures odds for Super Bowl LII on Tuesday - nearly two weeks before Super Bowl LI is even played. It would, of course, be seven kinds of insane to make serious bets on these numbers now - before coaching staffs are finalized, free agency happens, or the draft occurs. Heck, we might not even know what city every team will be playing in yet. Just because we can't seriously bet them doesn't mean we can't have some fun looking at them, though.
2017 Super Bowl Betting Trends with Expert Wagering Analysis
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2017
No football for two weeks - unless you count the Pro Bowl, and that is of course impossible to do because that is nothing like real football. It's a rough time to be an obsessed football bettor. The good news, though, is that the time off gives us plenty of opportunities to look at the Super Bowl from every possible angle in the hunt for any edge we can possibly find. One obvious place to spend time is looking at trends for both teams, so hopefully this long collection of 2017 Super Bowl betting trends will help you both fill the time off you have and find massive profits when the big game does roll around:
Handicapping the 2017 Super Bowl Quarterbacks with Expert Betting Advice
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2017
The quarterbacks are often the star attraction in the Super Bowl, and that is certainly the case with this matchup. Tom Brady vs. Matt Ryan. Matty Ice vs. a guy who doesn't need a nickname. The elder statesman of the NFL, who is playing as well as he ever has, against one of the rising players - one who could very easily be MVP this year. Two guys who fling it fearlessly and with ruthless efficiency. It doesn't get much better than this - especially if you like seeing lots of passing yards and touchdowns through the air.
2017 Super Bowl Wagering Advice and Help: Over and Underrated Handicapping Factors
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2017
I remember back 13 or 14 years ago, when I first wrote about the Super Bowl, thinking how the media coverage of the Super Bowl was out of control. How naive I was. The coverage back then was basically non-existent compared to what it is now thanks to social media, easily-made video content, everyone having a podcast, and everything else that overwhelms us from every direction leading up to the biggest of games.
2017 Super Bowl Prop Picks and Expert Betting Advice
by Dave Schwab - 1/25/2017
The New England Patriots went wire to wire as the top favorites in the AFC futures to represent this conference in Super Bowl LI, but the Atlanta Falcons coming out of the NFC was a bit of a surprise given their preseason futures odds as fourth or fifth favorites to win their conference. Nonetheless, we should have a pretty good matchup on tap in Super Bowl LI when kickoff finally rolls around on Sunday, Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium at 6:35 p.m. (ET).
2017 Super Bowl Handicapping and Betting: Injuries to Factor into Wagers
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2017
Injuries can be a very big factor in the NFL Playoffs. All you need for proof of that is to look at the AFC Championship Game. Le'Veon Bell had set a Pittsburgh team record with 167 yards rushing in the Steelers' first playoff game. Then he broke that record with 170 yards in the next game. He was the heart and soul of the Pittsburgh offense down the stretch and into the playoffs, and he was the biggest reason for their success. Bell reportedly had a banged-up groin heading into the AFC Championship, and by the second quarter he was done.
2017 Super Bowl Betting Advice: Understanding Pubic Wagering Mindset
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2017
The Super Bowl is, simply and obviously, as big as it can possibly get. No sporting spectacle on this continent gets close to this much attention. People who don't bet all year wager on this game, and people who normally bet a little often bet a lot here. For casual public bettors this is by far the biggest day of the year. Whenever the public is betting in big numbers they can have a very big impact on how lines are set and how they move.
2017 Super Bowl MVP Odds and Expert Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/23/2017
The Super Bowl MVP is likely to be one of the two quarterbacks. Let's not kid ourselves about that. These two guys are superstars that dictate the play of their teams as much as any guy in the league. Eleven of the last 18 MVP winners have been quarterbacks, and Tom Brady has won the award himself three times already.
Handicapping the 2017 Super Bowl Coaches
by Trevor Whenham - 1/23/2017
The head coaches are always one of the most interesting aspects of the Super Bowl. This year's matchup is a very good one. Not quite as good as Bill Belichick against Pete Carroll a couple of years ago, but it's still an interesting one. Belichick is the gold standard of head coaches in this league - there has never been any better.
Super Bowl Coin Toss Betting: History and Trends
by Trevor Whenham - 1/23/2017
The Super Bowl, like all major, established sporting events, is rich with traditions. There are things that just have to happen every year for it to feel like a Super Bowl. Some are universal and some are personal. For me, one of those personal traditions is when I annually set out to write about the dumbest bet in the history of the world - the Super Bowl coin toss prop bet.
2017 Super Bowl Facts and Interesting Statistics
by Trevor Whenham - 1/23/2017
It's a proven and indisputable fact - the best way to impress the opposite sex is to have an endless supply of trivia in your head. And the more obscure and useless the better. This is especially true during a major event like the Super Bowl where you will likely be watching with a group of people. So memorize this list of Super Bowl facts and you will be amazed at the dizzying seductive power you suddenly possess. Don't say we don't take care you around here. You're welcome:
Ranking the Super Bowls: Top 10 Games of All Time
by Trevor Whenham - 1/19/2017
It's time for another of our annual Super Bowl traditions around here - ranking the best Super Bowls of all time. Here's an early spoiler - the games are in the same order as last year, because last year's dud of a contest certainly did not break into the list. When the winning team has less than 200 total yards of total offense, the game certainly isn't a classic by my eyes. Really, this list has stayed mostly the same for quite a while. Just one game has broken into the Top 10 since Super Bowl XLII back in 2008. We can only hope that this year's edition can breathe new life into this list:
Super Bowl Betting and Money Management
by Trevor Whenham - 1/19/2017
Chances are that if you are reading this you are betting on the Super Bowl. Chances are also pretty good that you aren't relying on those bets to make a living, or to make you rich. It's also a pretty good chance that you aren't so wealthy that you could lose any amount of money and not feel it. If that's all true then you need to be concerned about Super Bowl betting money management.
