The league timed this one up perfectly. The Sunday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks couldn't come at a better time for fans. Neither team is overly excited to play the other. Traveling to the Pacific Northwest to play a first-place team that's won four in a row. If you're the Seattle Seahawks, you watched the Packers vs Lions Thursday night game, and you understand it was a hard-fought battle that the Pack could have easily won.

The AFC West has turned out to be quite the strong division. After the first month of the NFL season, the AFC West was not much more than the Kansas City Chiefs and everybody else. It's now Week 14, and the Chiefs and Chargers are each above 95% to make the postseason. We must remember the Broncos, too, as they are 75% to make the playoffs.

The San Francisco 49ers have never gone on to qualify for postseason play after a 5-6 start. I'm looking at a few different percentages for them to make the playoffs, and I can't find anything north of 15%. Some will point toward the injuries as to why this team has struggled so much this season.

They're 5-3 but 3-5 against the spread. Two of the three straight-up losses were the Dolphins and Titans, and the other was Minnesota, who played well against the Lions.

There are 3 teams sitting at 8-7 right now who would make the postseason if it were to begin today. There are 5 more that are in the hunt. The first two teams out of playoff contention at the moment, are the bitter rivals, the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. They are each 7-8. So, there is virtually no room for error at this point.
