NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 10
by Chris Vasile - 11/10/2020
If you stuck with the Packers last week, you were rewarded handsomely as their game against the San Francisco 49ers was really never in doubt. As for the rest of the survivor week, I managed to hit four winners out of my top five selections, and I’m sure that was enough to get some people through to the next week. As far as Week 10 goes, I’m sure by now you’ve used all of the big guns and are going to need to tread water with the teams that reside in the middle of the pack. Well, fear not, I have you covered with two games that feature teams nobody would use, and I absolutely love the spot they are in.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 9
by Chris Vasile - 11/4/2020
I apologize for suggesting the Packers as a top-play last week in your survivor pools. I had no idea that their defense would take their “cheese heads” nickname to heart and allow the Vikings run game to shred them to pieces. The Packers’ owe us a bounce-back performance. And if you were lucky enough to avoid them last week, they may be a great play this week as they take on a depleted San Francisco squad. If you’re hesitant to pull the trigger on the Packers, there are a few options I like that feature the lesser-used teams across most survivor pools.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 8
by Chris Vasile - 10/28/2020
If you’ve made it to Week 8 of your Survivor Pool, congratulations. You’ve survived perhaps one of the trickiest eight weeks I can remember, and you are doing so against some good competition, because most of the pools joined were busted in Week 5. This week we have some excellent choices to choose from – that is of course if you haven’t already used the top guns like Green Bay or Kansas City. If you have, I have a few teams that I really like this week that would make great options.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 7
by Chris Vasile - 10/21/2020
After six weeks of football, the big picture is finally starting to take shape. There are just three undefeated teams left, and two of them meet this week when the Titans host the Steelers. We know who the bad teams are, and then there is a jumble of teams who believe they are Super Bowl contenders and a second tier of teams who are playoff hopefuls. Because of that, it makes making survivor plays all the more difficult. There is a parity amongst the league that’s unlike anything we’ve seen in a while, and it’s likely here to stay for the foreseeable future.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 6
by Chris Vasile - 10/14/2020
Due to COVID, the NFL has had to manipulate the schedule moving forward to accommodate a bunch of teams. Tuesday’s game between the Bills and Titans was just the second-ever NFL game played on a Tuesday. And I’m not going to lie to you, I wish we had more Tuesday football. This week, there is no Thursday night game, but we do get a double-header on Monday when the Chiefs travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills and the Cardinals travel to Big D to take on the Dak-less Cowboys.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 5
by Chris Vasile - 10/7/2020
We are now into the “second quarter” of the NFL season (if you will), and from here on out the opportunities to lock in a very confident Survivor Pool pick are few and far between. I’m sure by now you’ve used a couple of the good teams like Kansas City, Baltimore, Seattle or even Buffalo, which leaves you scratching your head on which direction to go next. For starters, if you’re still alive in your pool, congratulations.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 4
by Chris Vasile - 9/30/2020
As Dennis Green once said, “They are who we thought they were”. While Green was talking about the Bears, I’m referring to the 2020 Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs went into M&T Bank Stadium and laid a beating on the Super Bowl favorite (prior to Week 3) Baltimore Ravens. The result, which was never in question, prompted me to immediately think of that saying. Imagine getting 3.5 points with a $500-million quarterback, a team full of track stars and probably the most creative head coach that roams the sidelines this season? The Chiefs are who I thought they were. They are a fast team.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 3
by Chris Vasile - 9/23/2020
I hate to blame everything on the year 2020, but what the hell is going on this year? I’m not sure if it was smart of me to expect a smooth start to the NFL season. But outside of the on-field play, which has been relatively decent, the injuries that have occurred through two weeks are extremely concerning for fans and the league as a whole.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 2
by Chris Vasile - 9/16/2020
If you read this piece last week and decided it would be a good idea to use my advice for your survivor pools, my apologies. I didn’t anticipate Gardner Minshew turning into Joe Montana and torching a good Indianapolis defense, or the Eagles forgetting how to play football after going up 17-0 against a piss-poor Washington team. Those two games cost a lot of people their entry fee into Survivor pools across the globe. If you are in a re-entry pool, we got you covered this week. If not, hopefully you can use this insight and put it to use in other betting ventures for Week 2 of the National Football League.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 1

With the start of another NFL season comes the start of the NFL betting in a variety of different forms. You have your game lines from the sportsbooks where you can pick teams to win straight up or against the spread. There are totals, first-half lines, second-half lines, team totals, and a million game and player prop bets to choose from for your consumption. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With the start of another NFL season comes office pools, and my favorite, Survivor Pools.
2020 NFL Survivor Pool Tips and Winning Advice
by Chris Vasile - 9/7/2020
Don’t look now, but we are less than a week away from the start of the National Football League season. While the world suffered through a global pandemic from March through the present day, the NFL has been essentially operating as business as usual with the exception of the lack of preseason games and shortened training camps. Nonetheless, the NFL is back and me and the rest of the Doc’s staff couldn’t be more excited to get the season started and to start winning football wagers again.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 17
by Matt Severance - 12/24/2019
Perhaps it was a good thing I had a family issue come up last week that prevented me from writing my Week 16 Survivor Pool advice story. Why? My top two picks probably would have been Seattle over Arizona and the Los Angeles Chargers in their final home game in that little soccer stadium beating the Raiders, a team I thought would be totally flat after losing the last-ever game in Oakland the week before.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 15

Don't you just love egotistical rich athletes? Le'Veon Bell got a four-year, $52.5 million contract this past winter from the Jets with $35 million guaranteed. Pretty laughable enough that Bell couldn't play last Sunday against Miami because of the flu. The Jets sent him home on Saturday and told him to stay there as he was contagious.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 14
by Matt Severance - 12/4/2019
I follow a handful of public relations guys from Doc's affiliated-sportsbooks on Twitter, and regarding an upset-filled Week 13 around the NFL from a Survivor Pool perspective, one wrote that the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers both losing as double-digit favorites essentially cleared the decks in that site's Survivor competition.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 13
by Matt Severance - 11/27/2019
This is a Survivor Pool story first and foremost, but if you have been following my overall picks for a Confidence Pool competition, then you also are likely doing well. In the past four weeks in my main competition, I have won, finished second, third and second. I entered Monday night in Week 10 in first and needing the unbeaten 49ers to stay that way against Seattle - or at least tie. Of course, they lost.
NFL Survivor Pools Expert Advice and Predictions for Week 13
by Trevor Whenham - 11/26/2019
Yet again we find ourselves writing about NFL survivor pools for another week, long after it seemed likely that they would be done and gone for the year. Last week was another week that went almost entirely to expectations for survivor pool players, with only the Raiders deciding not to get on their plane to New York and to send a high school team in their place, causing some issues for some players.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 12
by Matt Severance - 11/20/2019
I'm sure you had used the San Francisco 49ers already this season in your Survivor Pool, but if you took them in Week 11 at home vs. the Arizona Cardinals, boy were you sweating down 16-0 in the second quarter. And if you took Arizona at +9.5 points from a betting perspective, boy did you get hosed. Maybe even worse if you had 49ers -10.
NFL Survivor Pools Expert Advice and Predictions for Week 12
by Trevor Whenham - 11/19/2019
I felt pretty sure that last week was going to be the last week it was worth writing about NFL survivor pools for this season. We have already made it longer than we do a lot of years. But after a truly crazy Week 10, things went back to normal - or at least normal for this year - last week. This has mostly been a very straightforward season, and last week all four teams we picked - Oakland, Minnesota, San Francisco and Buffalo - all won.
NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 11
by Matt Severance - 11/13/2019
Every year in the NFL there's one WTF game. If I knew when/where it would come, I wouldn't be writing about it but spending my money somewhere on my yacht in the Caribbean. My first Survivor Pool story each year, I recommend sometimes playing "defense" against the rest of your competition. That is, avoid the game that just screams obvious victory on the off chance the unexpected happens and it burns everyone else.
NFL Survivor Pools Expert Advice and Predictions for Week 11
by Trevor Whenham - 11/11/2019
Well, we knew it was going to happen at some point. Total carnage. The NFL survivor pool season this year had been far too easy. Every week there had been obvious picks, and they had all turned out as expected. It was nice, but it isn't supposed to work that way. And this past week it certainly didn't. On Yahoo, 50 percent of people picked New Orleans over the Falcons. I recommended that pick without a moment's hesitation, too.

What are the Basic Rules for NFL Football Survivor Contests?
NFL Football Survivor Pools usually follow this basic format:
1. Team Selection: Each week participants select one NFL team that they believe is most likely to win their game. The catch is, once that team has been used, it cannot be used for the rest of the season.
2. Winning Requirements: To survive and advance each week, your selected team must win. Ties and losses eliminate you from the contest. This is where the strategy comes into play, because if you use the best selections early on, later in the season you're left with less talented squads to choose from.
3. Last Person Standing: Each week the field is reduced until just one participant is remaining. This means successfully picking a winner until you are the last player left.
4. Contest Duration: Leagues usually last the duration of the football season, although some use a playoff format where the top portion of the league continues to play until the last person is standing.
5. Tiebreakers: In the event of a tie among players, tiebreakers such as total points scored or the record of the last team picked can be used to determine a winner.
It's important to note that each league is different and it is vital to understand all of the rules and nuances of your league. For example, some survivor pools use the point spread for the game to determine the winner, while there are other pools where you simply must pick the winner of the game.
What is a Survivor Pool Grid?
A survivor pool grid is a visual representation, usually in the form of a chart, that tracks the competitors and the teams they used each week. It provides transparency for the integrity of the group.
What is the Circa Survivor Pool?
The Circa Survivor Pool is renowned for being one of the largest and most prestigious survivor pools, with a buy-in of $10,000. It attracts significant attention due to its immense prize pool, often reaching millions of dollars. In 2022, a staggering 6,133 participants joined the pool, competing for a prize pool of $6.13 million.
What is the DraftKings Survivor Pool?
DraftKings offers many different Survivor Pools, but two in particular gain wide attention. The first, with a prize pool of $30,000, is incredibly popular because of the free entry fee. The other is a $1 million guarantee, for an entry fee of $100. The free contest only allows you one entry, while the $100 tourney has a cap of 10 entries.
What is an NFL Survivor Loser Pool?
These types of pools, also known as Loser Pools or Reverse Survivor Pools, offer a unique twist on the Survivor Pool concept by forcing the contestant to pick one team that loses every week. Once you pick a team that wins, you are eliminated from the contest. The last person remaining that has picked a loser in each game is declared the winner. Also, some second-chance pools are called "loser pools". If many contestants are eliminated early in the season because of a plethora of upsets, the pool runner might create a second pool called a loser pool.
What is an NFL Confidence Pool?
An NFL Confidence Pool is a popular type of football pool where participants assign confidence points to the predicted straight-up winners of the NFL games for that particular week. The points range from 1 (least confident) to the highest number of games for the week. Participants pick based on their varying levels of certainty to the winners of the week's game. Doc's also offers free NFL confidence pool picks each week throughout the pro football season.
What are NFL Office Pool Picks?
NFL office pool picks are ATS picks for every game for each week of the pro football season. Many office pools ask competitors to pick every game against the spread each week. Doc's Sports offers free NFL office pool picks every week of the pro football season. Some office pools require contestants to pick a certain number of games each week. One popular variation is for players to pick five games each week ATS, which follows the model of many of the top pickem contests in Las Vegas.
