The FedEx Cup Playoffs begin this week with the St Jude Championship from the barbecue capital of the world, Memphis, Tennessee. The field is obviously loaded with the game’s best golfers. Leading the way atop the betting board is the newest Olympic Gold Medalist in men’s golf, the #1 ranked player in the world, Scottie Scheffler. You can take the Jersey native to win. However, ever since his mid-season surge, his payouts have plummeted.

We nailed our Aaron Rai pick last week -- and his +3000 price tag -- and now we head to the FedEx Cup Playoffs! Round one of the playoffs is always held at TPC Southwind in Memphis, and the leading 70 players in the FedEx standings will compete this week. That top-70 will be cut down to 50 players following this week’s event. There will be a further cut made after the BMW to 30 competitors, with those participants heading to East Lake for the season finale. Scottie Scheffler is the heavy favorite after winning the gold at the Olympics.

The PGA Tour heads to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship, which will serve as the final stop of the regular season before the playoffs start next week. Sedgefield Country Club will host the event and plays smaller than most courses on the PGA schedule. The field this week is not very strong, but there is still some star power teeing it up with Sungjae Im, Shane Lowry, Cameron Young, and Jordan Spieth all competing to solidify playoff positioning.

One week removed from the LPGA’s third major of the season, the tour will head to Midland Country Club in Michigan for this week’s Dow Championship. This serves as the only team event on the LPGA schedule and resembles the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic, which was won by Rory Mcllroy and Shane Lowry in April. There are two rounds of alternate shot and two rounds of best ball, with a 36-hole cut taking place after Friday.

The PGA Tour has been loaded with drama and action the past three weeks between the Memorial, U.S. Open, and the Travelers Championship. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was able to hold off Tom Kim in a playoff for his sixth victory of the ’24 campaign. Scheffler is the first golfer in the history of the PGA to have six wins before July 1st. Now the tour heads to Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and most of the top golfers have taken this week off.

Bryson DeChambeau capped it off with his second U.S. Open victory of his career after Rory Mcllroy missed two four-foot putts in his last three holes. Bryson would have one of the greatest scrambles for a par-save on the 18th hole to claim the title.

Chalk up a victory for the LIV Golf Tour, as Bryson DeChambeau won the U.S. Open in dramatic fashion last weekend at Pinehurst. After Rory Mcllroy missed a four-foot putt on the 18th hole to bogey, all DeChambeau had to do was par for the victory. After an erratic tee shot that left no options except chipping out, he found a bunker 55-yards away from the green.

Sweden’s Linnea Strom shot an amazing 11-under-par on Sunday to set the clubhouse lead at -14. It was the lowest final round ever on tour, and her final round score of 60 finished second all-time by only one stroke off Annika Sorenstam’s 59 in 2001.

Japanese superstar Yuka Saso is back in action after winning her second US Women’s Open last weekend. She turned a three-shot deficit into a three-shot win after the trio of co-leaders shot a combined 20-over par on Sunday.

It wasn’t the “R Mc” win we were looking for with Roy McIlroy. Instead, we saw Robert MacIntyre from around the corner in Scotland take home the W in Ontario at the Canadian Open. McIlroy was there in the end, but the Scot held him off by 3 strokes for his first-ever win on the PGA Tour.

After more than a month off, LIV returns this week in Houston for their eighth event of the 2024 season. LIV has done a nice job scheduling events around the majors, as this week will serve as a tune-up for some players for next week’s U.S. Open. Jon Rahm is once again the betting favorite at 7-1 odds heading to the Lone Star State, despite not winning on the Tour yet.

The best golfers that the PGA can offer will be in attendance this week to navigate Jack Nicklaus’ layout. Muirfield Village has been a staple on the Tour since it opened in 1974. This week will be a stiff test, as this course is widely regarded as the most significant non-major event of the season.
