Take Dallas Cowboys ‘Under’ 9.5 Wins

Be prepared for the implosion. I don’t know if any team in the NFL had a limper offseason than the Cowboys. Dallas has won 12 games in three straight years. They have mostly done that by beating up on really bad teams. Well, unfortunately for them there aren’t that many bad teams on the schedule this year. Dallas has to crossover with the AFC North, meaning four tough, physical games with four rugged teams. Washington and New York have improved in the division and I still think Philadelphia is a better team than the Cowboys. Mix in games with the Lions, Cowboys and Texans and there just aren’t a lot of layups. Dallas is in a terrible organizational situation. Their head coach and coaching staff are on the last year of their contracts. So are 30 of the guys on their roster, including starting quarterback Dak Prescott. There is a lot of uncertainty here. And if they get off to a slow start then things could get ugly, quickly. If Dallas loses at Cleveland in Week 1 then there is a great chance that they could get off to a 3-7 start. And if that happens then this whole house of cards will collapse. Even if the Cowboys are better than I think, I feel like 5-5 in their first 10 games would be a miracle. Will that be good enough to keep the vultures away? And with late-season games against the Bengals, Bucs and Eagles I simply don’t see a path to 10 wins for this group.
