Take ‘Under’ Nevada at Minnesota (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14)

We hit a free pick under last week and we will try for two in a row in this game. Nevada’s offense is better than last year, but it still struggles to score points on a consistent basis. Minnesota will be able to stop the run and that will mean Nevada have to move the football through the air. I do not see them having much success in that department. Minnesota ran it up last week against an FCS team, but they scored just 17 points against North Carolina in Week 1, a team that is traditionally bad on defense. Another win last week with Memphis, and I am now 23-10 (68%) with my last 33 free plays and we have racked up 49 of 71 wins in this space (68%). I am 94-50 (65%) with my free newsletter plays over the last 143 weeks. I took a big loss with Kentucky last week when they were a complete and total no-show against South Carolina. So why go back to them? Because I think last week was just a dud effort and not really representative of what Kentucky is this season. The Wildcats have plenty of depth and experience and they will also lean on their home field advantage. Georgia humiliated Kentucky last season on Athens, blasting the Wildcats 51-13. Ironically, new Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff threw a touchdown pass for UGA in that one. Now he’ll be going against his former mates and I’m sure he is going to play like he has something to prove. Kentucky has played Georgia relatively tough the last few years, losing by 17, 21, 11, 17 and 10 points prior to last season’s 38-point beatdown. Georgia is riding high after two easy, blowout wins. I still expect them to win this game but I don’t know that it is going to be a wall-to-wall blowout. Remember: Georgia’s game against Clemson was just 13-3 with four minutes left in the third quarter. I think Kentucky will find a way to hang around and make the points hold up. Chicago is presently 34-30 during day games and a ridiculous 26-19 post-all-star break record. Colorado is presently 30th in baseball when it comes to runs allowed, averaging 5.7 runs against per game, which puts them in last place in the MLB. Colorado is also struggling 32-27 at Coors Field this season. Colorado has nothing to play for, meanwhile every game for Chicago here on out is critical and will justify their faith entering the end of the regular 2024 MLB season.
