Series Play: Take Boston Celtics (-210) over Dallas in NBA Finals

There is a belief that Dallas can win this series with the way Luke Doncic and Kyrie Irving are playing. The Mavericks are 12-5 and 11-6 ATS to this juncture of the postseason and in some ways have been the more impressive squad compared to Boston. The Celtics' path has not been particularly challenging, as each opponent they have faced in the Eastern Conference has missed a starting player for at least two games in a series. Boston is 12-2 SU yet has been far from dominant at just 7-7 ATS. The C’s weak spread deserves context as the smallest spread they’ve had to cover was seven points, which is amazing. Though Dallas will win a game or two and cover some point spreads, Boston’s defense is so hard to pick apart because they can switch in any situation, which could slow both Luka and Kyrie. With Porzingis expected back, he and Horford can stretch the floor from deep against the Dallas defense, opening up driving lanes for Boston. Only three times in history has a seed lower than the #3 won the NBA title, placing the Mavs in a tough spot. Take Milwaukee (-135) over Detroit (4 p.m., Thursday, June 6)

Milwaukee looks to go with starter Freddy Peralta in this one. Peralta has been consistently very good the last five seasons, posting a solid 3..49 ERA, which ranks 36th overall out of 144 qualified pitchers with 300+ innings pitched. He's also been underrated as well as his FIP and xFIP are not only better than his ERA, but they also both rank in the top 20 in the league since 2020. On the other side of things, Detroit is scheduled to go with starter Casey Mize. The 27-year-old right-hander has increased his velocity in a big way this season but he still doesn't have swing and miss stuff needed to elevate his game and because of that he's just a very average pitcher at best. He's really struggled of late, as he's posted an ugly 9.90 ERA in his last three starts. Mize could be in trouble in this one as he faces off here against a Milwaukee offense that ranks 3rd best in the league in wRC+ this season and are 4th overall in team OPS.
