Vancouver enters this contest 27-11-3 on the season and first in the Pacific. Buffalo is 17-20-4 this season and playing lethargic hockey. Vancouver is currently 7-2-1 in their previous ten games and has won three consecutive games. Buffalo, on the other side, is 4-5-1 in their last ten games after losing 2-5 to Seattle on Tuesday. Vancouver now leads the NHL in offensive goals per game, averaging 3.9, which is dynamic. Buffalo is 21st in the NHL for offensive goals per game, averaging 2.98. Vancouver also has an edge on the defensive side of the ice, ranking fourth in the NHL in terms of goals against, allowing only 2.59. Aside from being on the road, Vancouver has an advantage in every aspect of this contest. The issue for Buffalo is that they play better hockey on the road than they do at home. These teams collided in Week 16 in the same location, with Cleveland winning 36-22 as three-point road favorites while C.J. Stroud was still in concussion protocol. Stroud will be back for this Wild Card opener after Houston escaped against the Colts and Jacksonville folded under pressure like a tent in a windstorm. However, the Texans remain the home underdog in the AFC clash as Joe Flacco is having the time of his life and is smiling before, during and after games. Cleveland front-line players had a bye of sorts last week at Cincinnati and should be rejuvenated. Flacco has the Browns passing offense on fire, using Amari Cooper and TE David Njoku in particular, with explosive RB Jerome Ford also in the mix. Cleveland finished the season #1 in total defense and pass yards allowed and their corners match up well with Houston’s receivers. The main reason they finished #14 in scoring defense is the Browns' offense averaged better than two TO’s a game on the season, giving opposing teams too many short fields to score points. Though Stroud seems cut from a different fabric as a rookie QB, one cannot overlook that first-year playoff QBs have notoriously not played well in the postseason and facing a defense like Cleveland can cause a conundrum. Dallas has completed 73.5% of their passes at home this season, averaging 305 passing yards per game, and they will have tremendous success on the ground against this Green Bay defense. Green Bay has given up 143 rushing yards per game on the road this season and 4.8 yards per run and opponents have also completed 65.3% of their passes against this Green Bay defense on the road this season.
