Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Strike Point Sports:

These teams have similar records and need every win they can get if they want to make the playoffs with roughly 50 games left in the season. Miami has hit a rough patch recently, but that was when they were on the road, and I expect different results seeing how this game will be played in Miami. Take Miami over New York Yankees (6:40 p.m., Friday, Aug. 11)

Jesus Luzardo is scheduled to take the bump on Friday evening, and had a solid performance last Friday, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings pitched against Texas, but eventually took the loss as the Marlins lost 6-2. He allowed six hits and two walks, resulting in four earned runs. Despite the loss, Luzardo's season has been impressive, with a 3.52 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4.19. If the season ended today on Monday as we write this, the Marlins would hold the second Wild Card spot in the National League, which is huge for a team that has not seen the playoffs in quite some time. The Yankees pitcher for Friday evening's game is not listed yet, however we can tell you that New York is in the exact spot as the Marlins, holding onto the second Wild Card spot in the AL. Two years ago, Michigan State won 11 games with first-year head coach Mel Tucker, despite being outgained by 9.0 yards a game. Tucker got a 10-year contract using the roster of the previous coach with a few freshmen he brought in. Reality came calling with a 5-7 season in 2022, and look for more of the same this year. The Spartans did not add much on defense on the line or secondary from the transfer portal, leaving the linebacker position the current strength. The offense had a chance to improve with returning QB Payton Thorne and top returning WR Keon Coleman, but they left after the spring game for new locales. With a Big Ten East slate and road games at Iowa and Minnesota, Sparty replicates last year’s record and is an ‘under’ play. Take Indianapolis Colts ‘Under’ 6.5 Wins (-105)

That is now 15 of 18 wins in this space, and I am 60-31 (66%) with my free newsletter plays over the last 90 weeks. Let’s keep it rolling! It has been 21 years since the NFL adopted its current 32-team, eight-division format. In that time, there have been 45 teams that have won three or fewer games in a season. There have been 98 teams over that period – an average of 4.7 per season – that have won four or fewer games each year. Now, these numbers are compromised a bit by the fact that the league now plays a 17-game schedule. However, the last quarter century of football history suggests that two teams are going to end this season with three wins or less, and four or five of them are going to win four games. Let’s bump both of those up and say that two teams will win four or less and five of them are going to win five or fewer games. Now you have to ask yourself: are the Colts one of the five worst teams in the NFL? There is not a doubt in my mind. I am a big fan of Gardner Minshew’s. The guy can play. If the Colts start Minshew, then I think they will cobble together some offense, despite their feeble receiving options, and at least be entertaining. If the Colts start Anthony Richardson, then they are in for a long, ugly season. Regardless of who is under center, the defense isn’t nearly strong enough to carry the load, and I think that this team is going to be involved in a lot of shootouts. Their best running back, Jon Taylor, is angry and won’t play well this season. Their receivers stink. They have a first-year head coach and we have no idea if he is going to be any good. These guys are just bad. The Colts haven’t won fewer than five games in back-to-back seasons since 1997-98. However, that was a transition period from Lindy Infante and Jim Harbaugh to Jim Mora and Peyton Manning. This is another transition year, and things will get uglier before they get better.
