Last year Esparza had a winning football season (college and NFL) and posted a fantastic college bowl run (+3,000). Free MLB Baseball Prediction From Vernon Croy:
Take New York Yankees over Toronto (7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21)
We are taking the New York Yankees on the moneyline over the Toronto Blue Jays as your free MLB pick for Thursday night. Cole has pitched solid this season, with an ERA of 2.81 and a WHIP of 1.05, which ranks 3rd among all pitchers in MLB for ERA and WHIP. Opponents have hit just .218 against Cole at home this season, and he has an ERA of just 2.59 in 16 starts at night this season. Cole also has an ERA of just 1.71 over his last 5 starts, with opponents hitting just .205 against him. Cole also has an ERA of 0.00 over 2 starts against Toronto this season, allowing no earned runs over 11.2 innings of work with Toronto hitting .239 against him. New York is also 5-0 in Cole’s last 5 starts overall. New York has hit .269 as a team lifetime against Berrios, and he has an ERA of 4.76 in his last 3 starts at Yankee Stadium. Play New York on the moneyline. If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here. Free College Football Play From Raphael Esparza:
Take ‘Under’ 53.5 Wisconsin at Purdue (7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22)
The total opened at 54 on Sunday and quickly was bet down, and I see this total continuing to move downward. The Badgers last two games, and both of them went 'Under' the total, and I see both teams trying to establish the run early. In the Badgers last 8 games, 6 of them have gone 'Under,' and in the Badgers last 7 games being played on Friday nights, 5 of them have gone 'Under'. Purdue a couple weeks ago beat VA Tech on the road 24-17, and that total went 'Under', and I see the same type of game being played Friday night. Free College Football Prediction From Strike Point Sports:
Take #320 Syracuse (-13) over Army (Noon, Saturday, Sept. 23)
The Orange are terribly underrated at this moment. Not many people gave them a chance to go into Purdue and win, but the Orange won by two touchdowns. This team is just solid and they are led by an experienced signal caller in Garrett Schrader. The Orange are disciplined on the offensive side of the football and they can get after you defensively. Army's offense has looked solid the last two weekends, but they won't be as successful versus the Orange defense. Look for Syracuse to win this game by 17-20 points and for Syracuse to cover yet another spread. Free College Football Prediction From Jason Sharpe:
Take 'Over' 44 Rutgers at Michigan (Noon, Saturday, Sept. 23)
I've been cashing in on Michigan 'under' the game total plays all nonconference season as the Wolverines have stayed below the posted number in each one of their first three contests this year, but I'm going a totally different here in this one. These two teams combined to score 69 points in their head-to-head battle last year and they've combined to average 60 points per game in their last five games against each other since 2018. The Scarlet Knights have a tough time defending the "Big Three" offenses of the Big Ten East division that they are forced to play every year as Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State have scored an average of 42 points per game against them the last five seasons (15 combined games). Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will be making his 2023 season debut on the sidelines in this one, and I expect him to place some extra attention on getting offense going, especially after the unit played so poorly last week against a bad Bowling Green team. Overall, I think this total is just too low as I look for Michigan to put up 42+ points themselves in this contest. Play 'over' the total. Free College Football Prediction From Doc's Sports:
Take ‘Over’ Oklahoma State at Iowa State (4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23)
You do not find many totals this low in college football, and we feel one of these teams will have a scoring outburst. It appears Brock Purdy covered up a bunch of bad coaching at Iowa State, and Matt Campbell is no longer a hot coaching commodity. He needs to get this offense on track, and they need to make major adjustments for this game. The Pokes are coming off a bad loss last time out to South Alabama, and they scored only 7 points in that game. Look for one team to reach the high twenties, and that should all this game to easily go over the posted total. Do not miss out on Doc’s Sports weekend card, featuring plays in basketball, baseball, and football. Sign-up now and let 52 years of handicapping experience work for you. Free College Football Prediction From Arun Shiva:
Take #321 Texas Tech (-6) over West Virginia (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23)
A matchup of Big 12 teams features the Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-2) squaring off against the West Virginia Mountaineers (2-1) on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Milan Puskar Stadium. The Red Raiders are 3-0 all time vs the Mountaineers, and Tyler Shough has racked up 743 yards through the air (247.7 yards per game) while completing 65-for-107 (60.7% completion percentage) and has thrown seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He has rushed for 137 yards on 44 carries with two touchdowns, averaging 45.7 yards per game, and we think he will have a big day here. This line has already moved a full point in Texas Tech's direction, and we agree with the move. Let's roll with the Red Raiders on Saturday, and note what you have here is indeed a 1-2 team that is favored here and though that seems to be a bit of a shocker considering that WVU is 2-1 it makes a lot of sense considering Texas Tech faced Oregon and Wyoming (looking ahead to Oregon) and that is why they lose those two games. Remember, they were very competitive against Oregon. West Virginia is off a huge win against Pittsburgh to their credit, but at the end of the day, Texas Tech is just far too good to lose 3 in a row here and I think they get back on track in a big way here. Free College Football Play From Scott Spreitzer:
Take #426 Penn State (-14.5) over Iowa (7:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23)
Iowa OC Brian Ferentz was given a goal in order to keep his job: Coach the offense to an average of 25 ppg in 2023. Iowa eventually put 41 on the board against a bad Western Michigan team but had failed to reach 25 points in their first two games against Utah State and Iowa State. WMU is one of the bottom 10 teams in CFB power ratings, so I took more negatives from Iowa's win than positives, considering it was 14-10 at halftime. Before beating the Broncos, Iowa had rushed for 200 yards on 62 carries in two games. QB Cade McNamara has completed just 53.5% of his passes with 4 TDs and 3 INTs this season. Penn State is piling up 470 yards per game, and their defensive numbers are better than Iowa's. And while the Hawkeyes' defense might keep them in it for a while, eventually I expect the Nittany Lions to pull away to the win and cover. I'm laying the points with Penn State on Saturday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer. If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here. Free NFL Football Prediction From Robert Ferringo:
Take #470 Seattle (-6) over Carolina (4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24)
Another winner with LSU in this newsletter last week! That is now 18 of 22 wins in this space (82%) and I am 63-32 (74%) with my free newsletter plays over the last 95 weeks. Let’s keep it rolling! I think that this is a terrible situation for Carolina. They just wrapped up a hard-fought, disappointing home divisional loss to New Orleans on Monday Night Football. Now they have to fly across the country to one of the tougher venues in the NFL. Seattle flopped in its first home game of the season. They are a feeble 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games. But they are 28-12 ATS in their last 40 as a home favorite, and I just don’t see them dropping two in a row at home to start the season. Carolina’s rookie quarterback is going to face another tough crowd, and I see more turnovers coming. These two teams are actually pretty familiar with one another. The played last year – a 30-24 Carolina win in Seattle – and I think the Seahawks will want some revenge. Seattle has won seven of the last 10 meetings over the last decade, including three of the last four since Dec. 2016. After giving up 30 points in back-to-back games to very tough offenses. I think they are due for a better effort here and I like the Seahawks to take this one 31-21. Free NFL Football Prediction From Doug Upstone:
Take Seattle (-6.5) over Carolina (4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24)
Not unexpectedly, Bryce Young is struggling to find a way to run the Carolina offense. The Panthers' offensive staff is trying to run the ball to set up the pass, but opposing defenses are daring Carolina to throw the ball and they have just 263 yards passing after two games, which explains their 27 total points thus far. Seattle bounced back from their opening game loss to the Rams in upsetting Detroit on the road in OT. QB Geno Smith was able to dismantle the Lions' pass defense for the victory. There is real concern about the Seahawks pass defense, which has been torched for 325 yards per contest thus far, but Carolina seems incapable of reaching those numbers. Carolina has to travel cross-country on a short week, and their defense might be without three starters after Monday. With Seattle 12-2 ATS in home games after scoring and allowing 30 points or more in the last game, they win by double digits. Free NFL Football Prediction From Griffin Murphy:
Take Kansas City (-13.5) Over Chicago (4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24)
Chicago's excitement for the 2023 season appears to have already been exposed. Chicago is 0-2 to begin the 2023 season, and their play has been dismal thus far. Chicago made its debut against Green Bay, losing the game 20-38. Tampa Bay beat Chicago 27-17, and Chicago was officially exposed. The offensive line provides little pass or run protection, and Justin Fields has no time to throw the ball, let alone run in the pocket. There is no cause and effect to having weapons all over the place if your offensive line can't stop the pass rush. Defensively, Chicago does not appear to be improving; they are dealing with defensive ailments. There are a lot of new guys playing together for the first time, and there doesn't seem to be any personality on this team. Kansas City is a high-powered offensive squad that likes airing the ball out. Due to Chicago's inability to get the defense off the field, the Bears may be in for a harsh awakening if Kansas City continues to air the ball out and Chicago's defense has no answers. This might be a difficult game for Chicago, which has now dropped 12 games in a row. If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here.
