They have won five of six and they will benefit from an off day on Thursday prior to this weekend series with the Cubs. Chicago is making a valiant effort to try to make the playoffs. And I think the Cubs are going to spend the weekend realizing just how far away they are from the top teams in the National League. Bryce Elder is slated to get the ball for Atlanta, and after back-to-back poor starts in mid-July he has righted the ship, picking up a pair of wins and allowing just three runs in 13 innings in his last two starts. Elder has a 2.85 ERA on the road, and I think he will be solid here. Kyle Hendricks should get the ball for the Cubs, but he is just 1-4 with a 6.81 ERA in his career against the Braves. Atlanta just keeps rolling through people, and they have been awesome in series openers the last two years. I think they stay hot with another win here.
