People have a hard time wrapping their mind around it. But they are not good. They probably should’ve lost to either Syracuse or Wake Forest, and if that was the case they would have a losing record right now. They beat them in OT two years ago, and four of the last six meetings have been decided by 10 points or less (two in OT). The Wolfpack are having a crappy season. However, this gives them a chance for a marquee win and this game means a lot more to them than it does the possibly-looking-ahead Tigers. N.C. State is coming off a bye week, and this is the same team that nearly knocked off Louisville at home (losing 13-10). I think this is too many points, and I had this number closer to 5.0 or 6.0. Free College Football Prediction From Scott Spreitzer:

Take #158 Nebraska (-2.5) over Purdue (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28)

Nebraska’s games against Illinois and Northwestern are what we’re likely to see the rest of the season. Great defense for the most part by Nebraska, leading the Huskers to wins against beatable opponents. Purdue is not good on either side of the line of scrimmage and in fact, they rank 97th in net points per drive, while Nebraska is 25th in the same metric on defense. I have Nebraska -2 on a neutral field, so playing in Lincoln, I give Nebraska an additional 3 points, giving us a 2.5-point cushion above the spread. Note that as a CFB HC, Matt Rhule teams are 10-2 ATS against teams playing .250 to .400 football, winning by an average of 18 ppg. The Patriots are coming off a much-needed win over the Bills at home last week. Mac Jones had his best game of the season, going 25-for-30 for 272 yards and two touchdowns. New England already played Miami once this year and played them tough in a 24-17 home loss in Week 2. Turnovers really hurt the Patriots in that game, and if they can take care of the ball, I think they will play another competitive game here. Miami has had a lot of success this year because of their high scoring offense at 34.3 points per game. Most of that success came against some of the worst teams in the NFL. The Patriots aren’t a strong team by any stretch, but I think that this is too many points for a rivalry game with two teams that are so familiar with each other. Take ‘Under’ 42.0 Houston at Carolina (1 p.m., Sunday, October 29)

The Carolina Panthers return from a bye week winless and 0-5-1 ATS. Normally, a team with two weeks off has an edge because of the time off, but because everything has not gone Carolina’s way, they catch Houston, who is also off a bye week. The focus of most football fans will be on the rookie quarterbacks, Bryce Young for the Panthers and C.J. Stroud for the Texans. Stroud has looked more comfortable and polished, with Young struggling to find any rhythm. It has helped Houston that they have a better team on both sides of the ball, but Stroud has definitely adapted to the pro game quicker. In this matchup, the defenses are vastly different, with Carolina last in points allowed at 31 PPG and Houston is #8 at 18.8 PPG. With the total presently at 43, home teams like the Panthers allowing 27 or more points a game, after allowing 35 points or more in two straight contests, when the total is between 42.5 and 49 points, are 33-6 UNDER. The team's defensive play is now allowing only 20.1 points per game to its opponents. Dallas is coming off a bye week after a 20-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Dallas has a strong secondary and a strong defense overall, but dealing with Matthew Stafford, Kupp, Puka, and Atwell is never easy. I feel this Los Angeles Rams squad is much superior to its current 3-4 record, and I believe they will prove it on Sunday, exposing Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
