With an opponent scoring around 25 points each game, New York is ranked nearly last in terms of points allowed per game. Every week, Los Angeles makes progress; I fail to see how New York can stop these explosive receivers and slow down Matthew Stafford. Their first Horizon League game of the season was at home against Cleveland State – and the Penguins buried them 94-69. Oakland has to play at Cleveland State on Thursday, and they are just a two-point underdog in that game. So, if the books are telling me that they think Oakland and Cleveland State are equals, and YSU already buried Cleveland State, then I don’t see any reason why this isn’t a double-digit win. Take #282 Washington (+4) over Texas (8:45 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1)

Not that it is not warranted, but Washington is a 13-0 underdog in this matchup. The Huskies' defense is cause for concern, having allowed 400 YPG. But here is the thing about the Washington stop troops: when they have needed a stop, they have gotten it each time. Washington’s high-powered offense is led by QB Michael Penix Jr. and they can score from anywhere on the field. The Texas defense gives them the edge as they can trade points with anyone offensively while forcing three-outs to give them a working margin. The Longhorns will also have revenge on their minds having lost 27-20 in the Alamo Bowl last season. Texas has a long history of not beating the number against unblemished opponents at 13-36 ATS, while Washington coach Keith DeBoer is an attention-grabbing 7-1 ATS when catching points. Some will say the Huskies are barely getting by with four straight one-score victories (7-0 on the season), but I’ll say they are battle-tested and make this a two-point game either way and take the points.
