This will be game six of this 1st round matchup between Calgary and Dallas. The Stars have hung tough up to this point in this series against what is a very good Calgary Flames team. Dallas has had a boisterous home crowd in these playoffs, and they come into this game winners of 6 of their last 8 games that have been played in Dallas. Stars goalie Jake Oettinger is a young up and coming goalie at only 23 years old and he's played outstanding so far in this series as he leads all goalies going into Tuesday's action with the best goalie save percentage during these playoffs currently (3+ games minimum played). Oettinger had held a very good Flames offense that was ranked as the 6th highest scoring team in the NHL to just 6 goals overall (plus one empty net goal) in the first 4 games of this series. Dallas was among the better teams in the league during the regular season with Oettinger in the nets as they won 65% of his starts. The problem for the Stars this season was with their backup goalies as that group combined to post a losing record in their starts, going just 16-20 overall in those games. This is too good of a price to pass up on with a hot goalie and a motivated team playing in front of their home crowd. They had a no-hitter on Tuesday in a 12-0 win, and they won the first two games of the Rays series 23-3. They have won six of seven, and right now this team is in a groove. I also think that Oakland stinks. They are just 2-8 in their last 10 games and there is nothing about this team that scares me. It looks like Daulton Jefferies will be on the mound in this one, the first game after a road trip for the A’s. Jefferies has a 5.22 ERA and has won just once in six starts. He has gotten worse in each start and has a 9.64 ERA in his last three. Jefferies hasn’t proven yet that he is an MLB-caliber pitcher, and the A’s are just trying to get him some experience and find out if he is the guy. The Angels should take advantage.
