Solid winner in this space last week with Seattle-Miami easily playing ‘over’ on Friday, and that is now back-to-back free play winners and a 24-9 (73%) run on our last 33 newsletter free plays. Philadelphia is going to get some points back on the spread because they are playing at home, where they are a much better team. But this play is all about whether or not Joel Embiid is back. If he isn’t playing, then the Sixers just don’t have a chance. They are too old and Embiid simply does too much on both ends of the court for this team. He’s irreplaceable. Miami has been undervalued this entire postseason. Right now, I think that they – not Boston – look like the best team in the East. Remember: just two years ago Miami was playing in the NBA Finals. They are on a 10-3 ATS run and they are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite. Miami isn’t going to be fazed by the tough crowd in Philly. I rarely bet MLB run line plays, but this game has blowout written all over it. The Detroit Tigers have been extremely disappointing to start the 2022 baseball season as they come into this game with one of worst records in the league currently. The Tigers hand the baseball here to rookie starter Beau Brieske in this one. Brieske was called up from AAA Toledo to replace the injured Casey Mize a few weeks ago in the Tigers rotation. At first glance, the 24-year-old right-hander looks to be pitching fairly well with a decent 3.60 ERA in his first two starts. A deeper dive though shows this former 27th round pick is in over his head right now and has actually been a lot more lucky than good in his first two outings. Brieske has had an unsustainable 100% left on base rate thus far. His FIP is currently ranked 141st out of 144 qualified starting pitchers (10 innings pitched minimum) and he's also dead last in the league with the highest negative differential in ERA minus FIP. Houston counters with starter Luis Garcia in this one. Garcia is coming off a solid rookie season last year as he was one of only of five pitchers in baseball age 24 years old and younger who averaged more than 9.5 strikeouts per 9 innings to go along with less than 3 walks per 9 (100 IP min). There's even more to like with Garcia so far this season as his average velocity is way up across the board on most of his pitches. Don't be fooled by his average looking start to 2022 as Garcia has had the misfortune of having had to face two of the best offenses in baseball (Toronto and LAA Angels) in 3 of his first 4 starts. He is also backed up here by an Astros offense that's been the best offense in MLB the past 4 seasons in games played at home, with a league leading 122 home wrC+. Arizona is far from a great team, but they are very improved from last year when they lost 110 games. The Diamondbacks’ offense and bullpen are like a Moet faucet, they run hot and cold. What has made the D-Backs better is their starting pitching, which ranks 3rd in baseball in ERA and No. 1 in BABIP. The Snakes are expected to start Merrill Kelly, who has an outstanding 1.27 ERA, with a WHIP of 1.02. Kelly is 2-1 and teammates have won three of his five starts. Colorado has a winning record, which is a surprise, but what is not a surprise is that is mostly due to playing at Coors Field. The Rockies are below .500 away from Denver and open this series having dropped five of seven away on their last road trip. Arizona takes the series lid-lifter. Winning Horse Saddle Cloth Number 1-11 (-250)

Why not? You have Epicenter (3 Horse), Messier (8 Horse), and Zandon (10 Horse), who can all win this race on Saturday night. I know the track will probably be sloppy for this race, but we also have some good horses who like to run in the slop that could also help us out on this prop. This number will probably close around -260 or higher, so I would grab this number quickly.

Take Toronto over Cleveland (6 p.m., Saturday, May 7)

The Blue Jays have responded well to being the hunted this year after being the hunter the past couple of years and are in a battle with the Rays and Yankees for the American League East. Ross Stripling has made three starts and filled in admirably while Hyun Jin Ryu has been on the disabled list. Ryu is supposed to be returning soon, so this may be the last start for Stripling, who I think will come through with a good performance and give Toronto a chance to win. The Guardians haven’t been good so far this season, and fortunately for them no one else in the American League Central has been, either. Tristan McKenzie has been a bright spot for Cleveland, allowing more than 2 earned runs just once in his five starts, but I think the Jays offense led by Vlad Jr. will be too much.
