Take ‘Over’ 7.5 Seattle at Miami (6:40 p.m., Friday, April 29)

Solid winner in this space last week with St. Louis, and we are now 23-9 (72%) with our last 32 newsletter free plays. These are two teams that are thought of as light hitting. However, Seattle has been hammering the ball. They have gone ‘over’ in six of their last eight games and seven of their last 10. They are in the Top 5 in scoring, averaging five runs per game, and I think that they will beat up Elieser Hernandez. Hernandez has decent stuff but hasn’t shown a ton of control of it. He’s allowed six home runs in three starts and has a 5.87 ERA. He’s had an ERA over 5.00 in three of his five seasons, and the youngster just isn’t there yet. I don’t think he’s going to be the one to slow down the Mariners. Miami’s offense has been pretty mediocre. But heading into Wednesday they had managed at least five runs in four of five games and six of 10. Seattle looks set to go with young Matt Brash. He has had control issues and has 10 walks to just seven strikeouts in his last two outings. Brash has also made his last two starts at home. Miami is still a pretty good pitchers park, but the rookie may struggle on the road here. Either way, I see some runs and I see this one getting ‘over’. Not unexpectedly, Washington is struggling this season, not having the offense or pitching to compete nightly and they have settled in the NL East basement where they could be all year long. Coming off their best regular season in team history with 107 victories, San Francisco’s projected win total was a whopping 20 games lower. That might end up being true, but in the early going that has not been the case as the Giants have picked up where they left off, playing intelligent situational baseball. Alex Wood is the projected starter for San Francisco, and he should contain the Nationals' offense. We don’t at this time know Washington's starting pitcher, but I’m confident the Giants will score more than enough runs against the Nats staff to cover the run line on Apple TV.
