Free MLB Prediction From Arun Shiva:
Take 'Under' Oakland at Detroit (1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 2)
Note we are on an 8-4 newsletter pick run. Today we roll with the under between the A's and Tigers. Manaea takes the mound for the A's, and he needs to show up for his team as they battle for a playoff spot. He comes off a terrible start vs. the Yankees, giving up 5 ER, 3 HR, in just 4.1 innings. Prior to that, he pitched a gem vs. the Giants, who have the best record in baseball, as he allowed just 2 earned and 2 hits. He has always had a tendency to bounce back after a rough outing, and we expect that here today again. Manning takes the hill for the Tigers. And despite his 5.46 ERA, he has pitched better as of late. He held a potent Toronto lineup to just 1 ER. And prior to that, he held the Angels to just 2 ER. I think he gets up to face a playoff bound team like the A's. Put it all together, and we like the under in this one. Free College Football Prediction From Strike Point Sports:
Take Rutgers (-14) over Temple (6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2)
This one should be all Rutgers. Greg Schiano is back in New Jersey, and you can already see the difference in this program. He is the one that built Rutgers into a legit Top 20 program, and he is looking to raise them out of the Big Ten basement. Last year the Scarlet Knights pulled three upsets and were very competitive against a tough all-Big Ten schedule. The Scarlet Knights brought back 21 of 22 starters, and they are one of the oldest teams in college football this year. Temple was atrocious last season. They were outscored by an average of 17 points per game and went 1-6 against a weak AAC schedule. That record included blowout losses at Central Florida and Tulane, and I don’t see Temple being able to step up and trade blows with a Big Ten opponent here. Rutgers should roll. Free College Football Prediction From Allen Eastman:
Take #147 North Carolina (-5.5) over Virginia Tech (6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3)
North Carolina will lean on Heisman Trophy candidate Sam Howell in this one. Howell is one of the best quarterbacks in college football and a likely first round draft pick next April. Howell rung up 56 points in a win over Virginia Tech last year while putting up nearly 700 yards of total offense. I don’t see Virginia Tech being able to slow down the Tar Heels this year, either. Virginia Tech does not have the same home field advantage that they did back in their heyday with Frank Beamer. The Hokies are replacing all of their best players on offense, and I don’t think that this team is going to be up to speed in time to slow down a Top 10 North Carolina side. Lay the points here and look for the Tar Heels to pull away in the second half. If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here. Free College Football Prediction From Raphael Esparza:
Take ‘Over’ 68.5 Tulane at Oklahoma (Noon, Saturday, Sept. 3)
Hurricane Ida forced this one out of New Orleans. I know the feeling, as the hurricane displaced yours truly from New Orleans! The Green Wave might have had a chance to keep this one respectable playing in the Superdome. Now they have to travel up to Norman, and Oklahoma should be ready to lay the wood. Oklahoma averaged 43 points per game last season, and they should be even better offensively this year thanks to a lot of returning experience and some key transfers. They shouldn’t have any trouble putting up more than 50 points in this one. Tulane will use its option attack to find some points, and I can see them scoring around 20 points to put this one ‘over’. Free College Football Prediction From Doug Upstone:
Take #179 Alabama (-18.5) over Miami (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3)
For most college football programs, winning one National Championship is a crowning moment. In Tuscaloosa, they wonder why it’s been since 2011-12 since their team won back-to-back. Nick Saban has created a monster and relishes the challenge. QB D’Eriq King has worked his tail off to return from a serious knee injury, with many not sure if he would play at all this season. King’s an electric two-way performer, and he is the key to Miami having any shot for the upset. For college football picks, Miami can hang in for a half on emotion against Alabama. At halftime, Saban will make adjustments, and his team will pick up the tempo on both sides of the ball and the Hurricanes will not be able to adjust. The defense will keep King in the pocket, and the pass rush will take him out of rhythm as a passer. That will lead to a couple of three and outs for Miami and give Bama field position that will lead to points. Alabama has never lost an opener under Saban, and the average margin of victory is double digits. In Saban’s last nine season-openers, all against Power 5 teams, they’ve won by 27.5 PPG. Free College Football Prediction From Scott Spreitzer:
Take #197 Syracuse (-1.5) over Ohio (7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4)
Ohio will no longer have Frank Solich calling the shots since the long-time HC was forced into retirement due to health issues. Having said that, I'm not going against Ohio due to a lack of continuity since 16-year assistant coach Tim Albin takes over as HC. But I am going against Ohio thanks in part to a defense that should struggle early in the season with just five returning starters. Syracuse has a talented receiving corps and an offensive line that should be night-and-day better than last year's version. They'll use a dual-QB situation with the strong-armed, mobile Garrett Schrader, a Mississippi State transfer splitting time with Tommy DeVito. While wins may be hard to come by for the Orange once we get to mid-October, they do have a shot for a solid start with a win and cover here. I'm recommending a play on Syracuse on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer, If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here. Free College Football Prediction From Robert Ferringo:
Take #192 Purdue (-7) over Oregon State (7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3)
I think that this is kind of a now-or-never year for Jeff Brohm. He’s really been a hard luck guy the last two seasons. They are just 6-12 straight up the last two years, but they have seven losses by a touchdown or less! They have played very good competition and have come up just short. I think that they have finally stabilized the quarterback position, though, and playing at home should give them a boost. This Oregon State team is no longer a pushover in the Pac-12. But they still have all kinds of issues on both sides of the ball. And while they are stacked with returning experience, they are still short on talent. Oregon State has lost five straight season openers, and most of them have been blowouts. I don’t think that this one will be a blowout, per se, but I do think that Purdue’s offense is going to find a way to get to a 10-13-point win here. Free College Football Prediction From Doc's Sports:
Take #213 LSU over UCLA (8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4)
UCLA was able to get a game under their belt against an inferior opponent, but they will take a major step up in talent tonight when they host LSU. The Tigers will bring a ton of fans to this game, so I just do not know how much of a home field advantage UCLA will have in this game. Chip Kelly has not been able to discover his magic he had at Oregon and recreate that at UCLA. LSU has played 4 PAC-12 teams since 2005, and they have won all of them in the regular season. LSU has more talent than does UCLA, and it is important for Coach O to right the ship after a disappointing season in 2020. LSU is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games. UCLA is 3-13 ATS (1 push) in their last 17 games played during the month of September. Do not miss out on Doc’s Sports Weekend College Football card, featuring plays on Thursday and Saturday. We easily hit our only college football plays last week, and you can expect a big weekend, highlighted by a top play on Saturday. Last year’s opening week top play won, 55-3, and we are expecting a similar winner in 2021! Free College Football Futures Prediction From Robert Ferringo:
Take Michigan Wolverines ‘Over’ 7.5 Wins
I think that the Wolverines are definitely underrated and undervalued heading into this season. They aren’t even in the preseason Top 30, and their national expectations are nil. That’s a mistake. This year’s group is one of the deepest and most experienced that Harbaugh has had since the 2016 Heartbreak Squad that went 10-3 (with the three losses that year by a combined five points). Their 17 returning starters tie the 2018 team (which also won 10 games) for the most of the Harbaugh Era. Michigan has seven home games this year. Admittedly, games against Washington, Indiana and Ohio State, even in the Big House, are going to be difficult. However, I don’t think they will lose more than two of those games. Can they win three road games? Absolutely, with games at Michigan State and at Maryland likely in the bag. I think Michigan is going to win several of those tough games, and I can see them getting to nine wins and beating their modest expectations. I’m going to buy low on Harbaugh and the Wolverines. If you don’t have an account at Doc’s Sports, sign up now and get $60 in free premium member picks click here. Existing clients call or email today and we will give you a discount on premium package. Free College Football Futures Prediction From Robert Ferringo:
Take Georgia Bulldogs ‘Over’ 10.5 Wins
Kirby Smart has been stockpiling Top 5 recruiting classes while guiding the Bulldogs into college football’s top tier. Now we will see if Georgia is ready to take that final, giant step from “good” to “great”. I think that they are, and the main reason is that the SEC East absolutely sucks this year. Georgia is going to be a double-digit favorite in all but three of its games this year: the opener at Clemson, a trip to Auburn on Oct. 9, and their game with Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 30. So for Georgia to come up short of this number they would need to lose two of those three tough games. Honestly, I think the odds are better that they win all three than that they lose two out of three. Georgia has been knocking on the door of college football’s elite class for the past four seasons. This year’s team is not their best or most talented group. However, it may be UGA’s best shot at national title due to the confluence of other factors. I think that Georgia does have a chance to beat Clemson in the opener. And even if they don’t I don’t see the Bulldogs losing again after that. I love the ‘over’ here and I think that Georgia will play its way into the college football playoffs.
