Memphis seemed to have the wrong attitude coming in the Orlando bubble. Memphis started 0-3 (as of 8-4-20) and has dropped four straight and brought all the possible contenders back into the mix. With just four games left, and not playing well, the Grizzlies are facing a hungry Oklahoma City crew that is attempting to better their No. 6 and possibly move up to as high as third or fourth seed if they can keep winning. Memphis will be the underdog, but they would need an attitude adjustment to beat the spread in this one. Jeff Samardzija has been knocked around in both of his starts so far this year, allowing 5 earned runs while striking out 1 in both contests. I think Samardzija will have a hard time missing bats in this contest, as the Dodgers lineup is just too talented. In each game Los Angeles has won so far this year, they have won by 2 runs or more, and I think that will continue in this game. Take Portland (+5) over L.A. Clippers (1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8)

It was a blowout winner with our free play last week with Miami hammering Denver by 20. Let’s see if we can pull off another underdog with the upset win. Look, I like the Clippers. Kwahi and Paul George are amazing. But there are still holes on this roster, and right now they have a whole bunch of guys that have no chemistry playing with one another. They didn’t look good in their loss to the Lakers and then played great in a blowout over the young Pelicans. They have to play two more games before taking on the Trailblazers, and I think that they will be a little winded by the time this afternoon tip-off comes around. This one is also very much a matter of motivation. The Clippers are pretty much set in the No. 2 slot in the West. And with just a few games to go, I don’t think they are going to max out their top guys. Portland is in a dogfight just to make the playoffs, and they need to make up some ground. The Blazers are healthier than they were before the break, and they know it is now or never for them. I expect them to be competitive in this game and threaten for the upset. I’m taking the points.
