Take #608 Minnesota (+5.5) over Michigan (7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21)

Winning on the road in the Big Ten can be a very difficult task and that makes this a dangerous game here for a top ten team like the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan comes into this one tied for 1st place in the Big Ten Conference at 12-3 overall. The Wolverines have benefitted greatly from having faced the easiest schedule in their league thus far. They are just 4-3 away from home in conference play this season but 5 of those 7 games have also come against the bottom 6 teams in the Big Ten standings. Minnesota isn't in that group of bad teams and when Michigan has faced teams from outside the bottom feeders they are 0-2 overall in those two road games and they lost both games by double digits. Minnesota has the look of a NCC tournament bubble team right now so this is a huge game for the Gophers season long resume. They are 6-2 at home this year in the Big Ten and 12-2 overall. The Gophers tend to play a faster style of play for a Big Ten squad and that seems to give the Wolverines some problems as Minnesota nearly beat Michigan the last two times they've faced them (losing by only 2 points this year and 3 points in overtime last year) despite the fact the Wolverines were at home and favored by -12 points in both of those two games. The last time that Michigan went into Minnesota back in the 2016-2017 season the Gophers came away with the victory. This is also a very difficult look ahead spot for Michigan considering that they play their hated rivals (Michigan State) in their next game on Sunday and that game will have even more added significance as both teams are currently tied for 1st place in the Big Ten Standings. The Wolverines are a very slow paced team that relies heavily on one of the best defenses in the country meaning likely a very low scoring affair in this one. Added all up and this will be a tough spot for them to win by the margin needed to cover this point spread. Take Minnesota plus the points. Portland is just 10-15 SU and ATS on the road this year and they have to open up with a brutal seven-game road trip that has them up and down the East Coast. I think that the 76ers are going to have some trouble winning games against teams like Philadelphia, Boston and Toronto. The Blazers are just 1-4 ATS against a team with a winning home record. I'll also be tracking this ACC battle on Saturday and I think that the Seminoles can bang the Heels for a bit in this one. North Carolina has their monster showdown with Duke on Wednesday. They could be dealing with a hangover from that one when FSU comes to town. The Seminoles have been on fire. They have won seven straight and, frankly, other than an OT win over Louisville on Feb. 9 none of those wins have been even close. This team was really beat up early in conference play. Now that they are healthy they are nasty. They have size, experience and talent. And right now they are one of the most underrated teams in the ACC. I absolutely think that this team will make this one a game and that they will be able to hang with the Tar Heels and make this number stand up.
