Free MLB Baseball Futures Prediction From Robert Ferringo :

Take Colorado Rockies 'Under' 84.5 Wins

This one is more of a numbers play than it is a 'feel' play. The numbers say that the Rockies are going to be worse this year, and I'm going to go with that. Baseball, after all, is a numbers game more than any other sport. Colorado is coming off seasons of 87 and 91 wins. However, in their 26-year history they have never had three straight winning seasons. I don't see it happening here. The Rockies surpassed their Pythagorean Win Total by a full six games last year, putting them in a regression range this season. The Rockies were also 26-15 in one-run games last year. That is a notoriously fickle stat. And rarely do teams have that level of luck two years in a row. Speaking of luck, the Rockies were one of the luckiest teams in the Majors with regards to injuries last year. If one or two guys go down this year, then that could have a dramatic impact on this year's squad. Further, the Rockies were No. 6 in the Majors in batting average on balls in play. Again, they were a little lucky. I expect the Dodgers, Giants and Padres to all be improved this year. It think they will siphon off some wins from the Rockies. Over the last 10 years, the third-place team in the N.L. West has won an average of 81 games per season. And the third-place team has won 85 or more just twice in that stretch. So, if Colorado slides back just a bit, their expected wins drops considerably. I actually think Colorado will have a third straight winning season for the first time in franchise history. But they won't top 84 wins. I don't love this pitching staff. And if Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Trevor Story or Daniel Murphy get hurt, then the whole perspective of the season changes. Take New York Mets 'Under' 85.5 Wins

This is the Mets we are talking about! This has been one of the worst organizations in baseball. Last year this team got off to the best start in franchise history, and they were 11-1 two weeks into the season. They still didn't even finish at .500! The Mets won 77 games last year and 70 games the year before that. They made a lot of moves this offseason, but I don't know if those moves necessarily made this team better. The Mets went out and traded for 36-year-old Robinson Cano. New York has always had a habit of getting big name players when they are washed up, and that's what it looks like with Cano, who will be playing in the National League for the first time. The Mets have had to deal with a lot of injuries the past three years, but that is because they have continued to rely on injury prone players like Yoenis Cespedes, who won't be back until midseason. The Phillies improved mightily this offseason, and they are one of the favorites to win the East. The Nationals still have a dominating pitching staff, and they will be in the hunt as well. The Braves were the best team in the East last year, and they are loaded with prime young talent. The Mets look like they are the fourth-best team in the East right now, and I thought that even putting their season win total around 81.5 would be generous. The Mets have won fewer than 80 games eight times in the last 10 years. They are consistent losers. That's who they are. And I don't see enough upgrades on this roster to feel confident that they are going to threaten 90 wins. This is an easy 'under' call for me.
