Take 'Over' 9.0 Chicago Cubs at New York Mets (7 p.m., Friday, May 25)

We posted another winner in this space last week and our free newsletter picks have been consistent winners. Let's get another one here. The Cubs and the Mets have been two pretty erratic, underachieving teams to this point in the season. And after a stretch of solid hitting, I think that the Cubs offense is going to stall out in New York this weekend. The 'under' is 6-2 in Chicago's last eight road games, and the 'under' is 36-15 on the road against a team with a winning record. I am also looking for a bounce-back effort from Tyler Chatwood, who has been much better on the road than in Wrigley this year. He has just a 2.53 ERA road ERA. And after two straight starts failing to make it out of the third inning, he is due for something positive. I think the same can be said for Zack Wheeler. Wheeler is not any good at all. But he's shown some signs of life and has been on kind of an every-other-outing run. Well, he wasn't very good his last time out, so he should be better here. Wheeler's ERA is just 1.88 in his last four starts following a start giving up four runs or more. The 'under' is 7-3 in New York's last 10 games overall, and they are still without several of their better bats because of injury. I can see both starters rebounding with solid efforts here and I think that this one will tuck 'under'. The Angels swept the Rangers the first time they met this season, and I think they will keep that streak alive in the first game of this series. Garret Richards has lost his last three starts, but he has allowed only four earned runs over that time. Walks have been an issue for Richards this year and that's what cost him a victory against the Rangers earlier in the season as he could only make it through 4.1 innings of an 8-3 win. Cole Hamels will be on the mound for Texas, and they have not been able to stay healthy all season. Hamels didn't pitch against the Angels in the first series they played this season and he had mixed results in 5 starts against Los Angeles last season. I like the Angels in this spot. Take 'Over' Cincinnati at San Diego (5:40 p.m., Saturday, June 2)
The Matt Harvey believers are buying into his resurgence with the Reds. I'm not seeing it. While Harvey has posted a respectable 3.72 ERA in four starts with Cincinnati, his peripherals point to a pitcher struggling. He has a 4.77 FIP in those outings and has been fortunate in the BABIP and strand rate departments. Harvey posted a 7.00 with the Mets this season, and I think that's closer to the reality than his ERA with the Reds. On Saturday, Harvey is slated to match up with the Padres in San Diego. I like the way the Padres have been playing lately. Some of the bats have woken up, and I see a decent lineup on paper. Eric Lauer goes for the Pads Saturday, and he's had his share of struggles as well. He comes in with a horrendous 7.67 ERA on the season and seems to be getting worse as the season progresses. Take 'Over' Pittsburgh at St Louis (7 p.m., Thursday, May 31)

Listed Pitchers: Pit: T. Williams (5-3, 3.43 ERA) StL: J. Flaherty (2-1, 2.15 ERA) This pick falls into one of my top MLB systems, and I see a lot of runs here given this pitching match-up Thursday night. The Cardinals have hit .357 as a team lifetime against Williams with an OBP of .433 over 84 at bats against him. Williams has allowed 4 earned runs in each of his last two starts, and this will be the 3rd time the Cards have faced him already this season. Flaherty has pitched solid this season. However, he gave up 2 homeruns and 6 walks over his two starts against the Pirates this season, and this will also be the 3rd time the Pirates have seen Flaherty this season.
