I have now hit four straight newsletter free plays after connecting with the Raiders-Dolphins 'over' last week. Here I am going with a side play as we look for No. 5 in a row. The Cowboys are one of the worst teams in the NFL. They just don't have any talent. Their receivers stink. Their linebackers stink. And their secondary stinks. Dak Prescott is mediocre, and the offensive line is no longer as dominating as it was two years ago. The Lions have to have some confidence after a dominating win over the Patriots last week. And I think that they are good enough to go on the road and pull an upset win here against a weak favorite. The underdog is 5-2 ATS in this series, and the Lions are really in their best role here. I don't love the Lions at all. But Matt Stafford is better than Prescott, the defenses are about equal, and I just think that the Cowboys are one of the most overrated teams in the NFL right now. The Raiders have gotten off to a rough start under Jon Gruden. They are 0-3, and this team has not looked good. But Gruden is feeling the pressure, and he is going to have this team motivated to get that first win. The Browns are just 16-34 ATS in their last 50 games, and they are just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games. Lay the points in this one. The San Francisco 49ers lost starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending injury last game. Without him behind center, this is a totally different offense as evidenced by the 27 points per game the Niners have averaged since Jimmy G took over as their starting quarterback the last five games of the 2017 season and the first three contests this year. Last year this was a team that averaged 10 points per game less (17 PPG) with others running the offense. San Francisco did get back it's best defensive player last week as linebacker Rueben Foster served his two-game suspension and is now back on the field for the 49ers defense. The Los Angeles Chargers ended last season an 'under' team as they went below the posted total in 10 of their last 11 games in 2017. They have started this year off with three straight 'overs', though, which seems to have changed the perception of this squad, but keep in mind the Chargers also had to face two of the best offenses in the league in two of their first three games, going up against KC and the LA Rams. Should be a lot easier for their defense in this one going up against SF and its backup quarterback. Play 'under' the total in this one. Take Minnesota over Chicago (2:10 p.m. Friday, Sept 28)

The Twins and the White Sox square off against each other for the final series of the season, with the Twins owning a slight 8-7 edge, and they have to play a double header on Friday because of postponements early in the season. Jose Berrios will make his final start of the season, and he has pitched well in front of the Minnesota faithful, going 8-4 with a 3.15 ERA across 16 starts. The Twins have lost the last 5 starts Berrios has made, but they have won all four starts he has made against Chicago as he is 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA holding them to a .202 batting average. Reynaldo Lopez has finished the season strong as he hasn't allowed more than 1 earned run over his last 5 starts, picking up the win in three of those contests. He went 1-0 in three starts against the Twins this season, but he allowed 4 earned runs in two of those and I think he may struggle to get the win in this one. I think Minnesota is the better team, and they have the better pitcher in this matchup, so take the Twins.
