The Tampa Bay Bucs are a mess right now as they will be without their starting quarterback Jameis Winston for the first three games of this 2018 season. Even when he's been able to play, Winston has failed to live up to the No. 1 pick in the draft status. No matter what metric you're using, all of them have Tampa Bay playing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this year as the Bucs come out of the very difficult NFC South where each of the other 3 teams in that division are lined at 9 wins or higher currently this season. Tampa Bay head coach Dirk Koetter enters his 3rd season and is on the hot seat coming off an ugly 5-11 year in 2017. The Bucs first five games of this season are at New Orleans, home against Philadelphia, home against Pittsburgh, at Chicago and at Atlanta, all of which TB should be underdogs in (and keep in mind no Winston for the first 3 contests). That means there's a good chance that they start this year off 0-5, which might be the end for Koetter, and if that's the case the Bucs would need to finish off their last 11 games with likely a new coach and have to go 7-4 in their remaining contests for us not to win this bet. Football is back! I can't wait for Thursday, and I am looking forward to some NFL Preseason action. Some people don't, but I absolutely love betting the NFL Preseason and I have posted a profit in 8 of 10 Augusts. I will have my first play of the year on Thursday, a side pick in the Hall of Fame Game, and I am looking forward to taking the first step toward my third consecutive winning football year and my seventh profitable campaign in the last nine years. I have averaged +$4,100 in football profit over the last seven years, and I look forward to topping that this season. As for this pick, the Hall of Fame Game is usually little more than a glorified walkthrough. Most of the top players for both teams aren't going to play, so this one is going to come down to depth and execution. Vic Fangio is one of the top defensive coordinators in the country, and he has completely renovated the Bears defense over the course of the past three seasons. I think they will be able to give the Ravens offense some problems, particularly when they go to rookie Lamar Jackson. I expect Jackson to be up and down while he gets a lot of reps in the first half. After that the Ravens are going to noted loser Bob Griffin III followed by someone named Josh Woodrum. The Bears are going to rest most of their top offensive players, including Jordan Howard. This team is learning a new offensive system, and I don't think they've got it quite yet. The Bears have the better backups with Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray. But the Ravens defense has a lot of depth, and I expect them to play hard deep into the fourth quarter. Last year we had a high-scoring HOF Game, with 38 total points. But prior to that four of the previous five HOF Games had gone 'under' with an average of just 28.2 points per game scored in them. The Marlins have hit .317 as a team lifetime against Pivetta with an OBP of .330, and he has an ERA of 5.60 over 15 starts in night games this season with opponents hitting .286 against him. Jake Odorizzi took a no decision against the Royals on July 22 when he allowed 1 earned run over 6 innings, and I think he can keep KC's lineup guessing again. Heath Fillmyer has made 7 appearances (3 starts) for Kansas City, with the Royals losing every game he has pitched in, and I feel Minnesota has the edge in this one. The Twins are 29-22 on the season when playing at home, and I think they will get the victory in this matchup.
