Take 'Under' 7.5 Kansas City at Tampa Bay (1 p.m., Thursday, May 11)
I have been red hot across a variety of sports over the last month, and right now is a great time to jump on The Victory Train! I have banked over +$5,000 over the last few weeks alone and will continue it with another big MLB and NBA weekend. With this free play it is really a pretty simple equation. The Royals have a horrendous offense, averaging 2.9 runs per game. They are last in the league in scoring, batting and OPS and as a result they've gone 10-20 against the total to start the season. A very solid pitching staff compliments their horrific offense, and Jason Vargas has been as good as any starter in the Majors this year. Vargas has a 1.19 ERA, and going back to 2015 he has gone 'under' in nine of 10 starts, allowing just eight earned runs over his last 52 innings of work. Tampa Bay doesn't mind playing a low-scoring grinder game. They are No. 21 in scoring and No. 22 in batting, while also posting a Top 10 pitching staff. Jake Odorizzi has just a 2.88 ERA on the year, and he has been rock solid, allowing two runs or fewer in four straight outings. He has gone 'under' in eight of his last nine starts, and I see him holding the Royals down. I have posted 10 of 16 winning nights on the diamond over the last three weeks and I will have another big weekend this week. Two good young pitchers are going to take the mound in this game on Friday. Chase De Jong is coming off his best start of the season, allowing just one run in six innings against Texas. That is two of three strong appearances for the rookie. The Blue Jays are going with a good young arm in Joe Biagini. He has proven himself in the bullpen. He made 60 appearances last season and posted just a 3.06 ERA and this year he has a 2.78 ERA in his 15 outings. He made his first career start over the weekend at Tampa Bay and didn't allow an earned run in four efficient innings. I expect more of the same. The 'under' is 21-7 in Toronto's last 28 games and the 'under' is 20-7 in Toronto's last 27 games against teams from the A.L. West. The 'under' is 23-9 when the Blue Jays plays on AstroTurf and is 48-21 against teams playing above .500. Take 'Under' 8.0 New York Mets at Milwaukee (4 p.m., Saturday, May 13)
The Milwaukee Brewers are off to a nice start and they have their hitters to mostly thank. However, they've slowed down offensively of late and teams are starting to pitch around slugger Eric Thames. The Mets have also had trouble getting runs lately and that's more to do with injuries than anything else. When you're missing guys like Yoenis Cespedes, Lucas Duda and David Wright, your production as a team is going to suffer. We have two underrated starting pitchers slated to go in this Saturday matchup - Robert Gsellman and Zach Davies. Gsellman has a bloated ERA, but his peripherals are much better. He doesn't give up too many free passes, but he needs to avoid the home run ball. Davies is sort of like Kyle Hendricks-lite, as he knows how to pitch but doesn't have overwhelming stuff. I don't expect either team to explode in this one, so we're on the UNDER in our Free Play selection for Saturday. Doc's recorded $4,800 in profit in April and is looking for another huge season.
