Take ‘Over’ 9.5 Minnesota at Houston (8 p.m., Friday, July 14)
I have nearly doubled my clients’ bankrolls since late April, banking over +$8,000 in profit on the diamond. I plan on keeping it going with more in the second half and it starts on Friday. I will be light on the first day of the second half, but then I plan on hammering the books with a 7-Unit MLB Play on Saturday. As for this free play, I expect both teams to hit the ground running in the second half. Jose Berrios is one of those guys that I think has been throwing way above his head. He is going to come back down to earth at some point. And why not against the No. 1 lineup in baseball. The Astros already tagged him for four runs and 10 base runners in five innings in a 7-2 game back on May 30. I think it will be worse for Berrios on the road, where his ERA is over a run higher. Berrios has rung up 6.24 ERA in his last three starts and the air is starting to come out of the balloon. Houston is going with Chuckles Morton. He has made just one start since May 25. It was a very good one in a 12-2 win on July 7. Morton has gone ‘over’ in eight of nine games. And this is a guy that’s carrying an ERA over 4.00 over the last three years. I think both pitchers are going to combine to allow seven runs. And some late runs against the bullpens will push this one over. Take Tampa Bay at Los Angeles (7 p.m., Friday, July 14)
It usually takes a couple of days for the hitters to back on track after the All-Star Break, so UNDERS are a good place to look on Friday. Runs have been especially hard to come by for the Angels lately without superstar Mike Trout. The 25-year-old phenom returns to action on Friday, but it’s tough to ask him to return to his superhuman self right away. The Tampa Bay Rays surprisingly are sixth in the American League in runs scored this season and third in home runs. They do have some underrated players on the roster, but I don’t see it continuing into the second half. Expect a low scoring affair on Saturday between the Angels and Rays. Take St. Louis over Pittsburgh (7 p.m., Friday, July 14)
We look for back-to-back winners on the newsletter as we gave you the Royals over the Twins for a 8-1 winner recently. We like the Cardinals and Mike Leake to get it done over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. Note the Cardinals are in need of a big stretch run, as they are two games back from .500, which is not that far away from a wild card spot if things work in their favor. However, the Pirates are even further back, as they are 5 games back from .500 and we like St. Louis to start the 2nd half of the season well. The Cardinals took 3 of 4 to close out the first half including winning by a combined score of 10-1 over the Mets in their last 2 games. You have a pitcher in Leake who was favored by -132 in his last game and ended up losing 6-9. Note Leake gave up 9 hits in 3.2 innings in that game against the Marlins where he gave up a season high in homeruns of 3 homeruns in that contest. Prior to that he had put together 3 straight quality starts including giving up just 1 earned run to Washington, 3 to this very Pittsburgh team and 1 to Philadelphia. Leake has good stuff and was simply hit hard in that game and we like him to bounce-back here. Combine that with Cole coming off a great start against Philadelphia, in for a possible let down here and only giving up 1 run to the Cardinals in his last start over 6 innings, we like the Cardinals to get some revenge and have more success against him this time around. The Cardinals are as good as it gets when it comes to making adjustments on pitchers and we like them here to bounce-back. Take Baltimore over Chicago Cubs (8 p.m., Friday, July 14)

I like the Orioles to get off to a good start to the second half with a win here. They will be excited for a game against the defending World Series champions. The Orioles will be backing Kevin Gausman. He is 14-4 in his last 18 home starts and he has been very sharp. Gausman gave up six runs against the Twins in his last start. But before that he has held opponents to three runs or less in six of his previous nine starts. And that includes shutting out the Rays and Blue Jays. The Orioles have been great at home against National League teams. They are 41-14 in their last 55 interleague home games. Take Milwaukee over Philadelphia (7 p.m., Saturday, July 15)
Milwaukee and Philadelphia find themselves on opposite ends as they start the second half of their seasons. The Brewers own a 5.5 game lead over the Cardinals and Cubs and are in first place in the National League West while the Phillies have the worst record in the National League and sit in last place in the NL East. Jimmy Nelson has been a large part of Milwaukee's success this season and he is 4-3 with a 2.35 ERA at home this season. He has won his last three starts allowing 5 earned runs over 19 innings with the Brewers outscoring their opponents 22-8 over those contests. Aaron Nola has the same record and essentially the same ERA whether he pitches at home or away and has been very consistent for the Phillies this season but I think he will have some trouble with the Brewers in this matchup.
