Take LA Lakers over LA Clippers (10:30 p.m. EST, Friday, Jan. 29)
Just think this is a really bad spot for the Clippers over a team they have dominated mostly for the last couple years. This is the dreaded first game back from the long Eastern Conference road trip. No doubt the Clippers will be laying a big number here, probably 11 or more. Of course the news came out Tuesday that Blake Griffin is out 4-6 weeks because of an off-the-court fight. He was just about to come back. This team got off to a slow start and then went on a run with Griffin out, but that was against a very easy schedule. They had a very bad road trip overall and the situation with Griffin has to be a big distraction for the team, especially since they kept quiet about this whole situation for almost a whole day. You can tell this team is in full-on crisis mode right now. The team traded away Josh Smith right before the Griffin incident, so an already thin team (since the bench hasn't panned out as planned) is even weaker at forward. We were at the Clippers/Lakers game on Christmas Night and thought it was very impressive that the Lakers came back from a big deficit and they were right in it late in the fourth. Pretty sure the oddsmakers are going to set a too-high number here and we think the Clippers are a strong fade play right now until they show otherwise on the court. And even though this is a back-to-back for the Lakers, this will be the Clippers third game in four nights and with the travel and distractions of Griffin and taking care of personal business after the long road trip we think the Lakers keep this one well within double digits.

Take Florida State (-5) over Clemson (Noon, Saturday, Jan. 30)
It was another free play winner last week with Seton Hall and the points holding up against Xavier. But I think they're better than they've played. They are desperate for wins and are coming into a soft spot in their schedule after a brutal open to ACC play. Look, Clemson is on a 7-0 ATS run. They're better than people thought, but that's just because everyone thought they were awful. That ATS streak is not going to continue, and I don't see it keeping up on the road. The Boilermakers have dominated opponents in West Lafayette this season, and that won't change when Nebraska visits Purdue this weekend. More of the same is likely against an even lesser road opponent in the Cornhuskers. Take Arkansas (-3) over Texas Tech (4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30)
The SEC and Big 12 are having an interconference showdown on Saturday. There are a lot of big games and great matchups. This is not a matchup that is going to be on anyone's radar. But that is good news for us. This is a really experienced Arkansas team going up against a really young Texas Tech team. If Arkansas loses to A&M on Wednesday (they are home underdogs) then the Razorbacks will be nursing an 0-4 slide. They are in desperate need of a win. Texas Tech has lost five of six games and their only win came over TCU. This Red Raiders team has only played three road games all year. They have lost two. And Arkansas has one of the best home-court advantages in the South. Texas Tech plays No. 1 Oklahoma on Tuesday and then has a home game against Oklahoma State next week. In between is this game at Arkansas, and I don't think the young kids will play their best.
