It has been a fabulous football season so far for Sharpe and his followers, as he's gone an incredible 60-39 combined in CFB and the NFL during the regular season. Take #822 Drake (-7) over South Dakota (9:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11)
College basketball handicapping is a 365-day-a-year job for me, and Nov. 11, the first day of the 2016-17 season, is like a second Christmas! I have posted 10 straight winning college basketball regular seasons, and over the last six years I have averaged $8,000 in profit for my clients. Over the last 10 years I have averaged over $6,000 in profit with my November-December picks alone, and I am looking for another huge start to the season. As for this play, I know it is a bit obscure. But I think that this is a chance to take advantage of a bit of a mismatch. South Dakota has to replace all five starters from last season's 14-18 squad. This is a program that's only been in Division I for a handful of years and they don't just reload. Last year they lost to Wright State (by eight) and Northern Illinois (by seven) in their first two games, and it should be even rougher for them now with a lot of freshmen and sophomores getting their first real action on the road. Drake has nowhere to go but up. They won just seven games last year, but they have four starters back, including leading scorer Reed Timmer (16.8 PPG) and seven-footer Jacob Enevold Jensen. Drake went 4-1 last year against teams rated No. 275 or worse, and I think that they will be focused and ready to get off to a positive start. Take 'Under' Utah at Orlando (7 p.m. EST, Friday Nov. 11)
Doc's NBA has had a great start to the season with more than $2700 in early-season profit. We are on a 15-6 run and hit a 7-Unit pick on Monday (10-2 run for 7-Unit picks stretching back to last season). We have a big 7-Unit winner coming on Friday. Orlando has just been horrible offensively to start the season. This team is averaging only 93 PPG (No. 29 in the NBA) and shooting just 41 percent from the field. They are in tough here Friday against a Utah team that is No. 2 in the NBA defensively, allowing less than 95 PPG. We think the Magic will be hard pressed to get into the 90s here on Friday. Utah isn't great offensively, either, as they are in the Bottom 10 in the NBA for scoring. Orlando has been hit and miss defensively, but they have been able to keep most teams that struggle on offense down to a reasonable score. Because Utah is on the road here we don't see them doing anything great offensively but we think they will be able to accomplish their defensive goals here. Take #151 Wyoming (-7.5) over UNLV (3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12)
The Cowboys were in for a letdown last week but made quick work of the Aggies and now face a much weaker team in UNLV on Saturday afternoon. Wyoming likely just needs to win two of their last three games to advance to the MWC Championship Game against San Diego State, and one of those wins will come today. The Cowboys have won five straight games, and only their game against Boise State featured a final score lower than today's posted number. UNLV has a very slim chance make a bowl game (must win at Boise State), and thus I expect them to focus all their attention on the Nevada game to end the regular season. They will try and keep the cannon red for a second straight year. Wyoming was terrible last year and still beat UNLV. The Rebels have lost three of their last four games and are playing the hottest team in the MWC. Wyoming is playing with a ton of confidence and expect that ride to continue Saturday. Take 'Over' 90.0 Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12)
Two teams that have been trending to the over will meet when the Texas Tech Red Raiders hit the road to take on the Oklahoma St. Cowboys at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK, on Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders have posted a 6-1 record to the over in their last seven games following an ATS loss and they have gone an excellent 10-2 in their last 12 games versus a team with a winning record. They have also gone up and over the number in 19 of their last 26 road games versus a team with a winning % of .500 or higher at home. The Cowboys have been an over team as well in the spot they are in here on Saturday afternoon as they have gone a perfect 4-0 to the over in their last four games where they faced a team with a losing record and they have gone an impressive 10-2 to the over in their last twelve Big-12 games. They have also gone 8-3 to the over in their last eleven games following a straight up win and they have been one of the best teams to the over at home, going a lights out 63-31-2 to the over in their last 96 games at Boone Pickens. Throw in the fact that these two teams have gone 5-2 to the over in their last seven games in Stillwater and a perfect 4-0 to the over in their last four overall and that's where we'll have our play as our numbers have this one turning into an old fashioned Big-12 shootout on Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma. Boise State's dream of an undefeated season was ruined a few weeks ago in their loss at Wyoming as the Broncos led the entire way until a late-game collapse ended their perfect season. It won't be easy for Boise State to get themselves focused and motivated following that type of defeat, and we saw proof of that last week as they struggled to beat a bad San Jose State team that they were favored by 31.5 points over. They now have to fly out to Hawaii and take care of business, which isn't an easy thing for teams to concentrate on doing, especially when they are already lacking in the very important concentration department. Hawaii started the season off playing a schedule that no CFB team should ever have to endure. Once things settled down, though, the Rainbows played much better as they won 3 of 5 games overall, and those 2 losses came in just one-possession games. They were badly embarrassed, though, last week in a no-show 55-0 loss at red hot San Diego State. That's the type of ugly defeat that should help them here in this game bring back the much-needed intensity. Look for the Rainbows to keep things closer than expected here against what is likely an unfocused favorite. Friday night in Doak Campbell Stadium we should see a low-scoring game and defense will be the key for both teams. Last two meetings between these two teams both went UNDER the total and last year the FSU Seminoles won 14-0. Boston College has been an UNDER team as of late, cashing 4 out 6 under games and Florida St at home plays their best defense. In early October Florida St beat Wake Forest at home 17-6, and it wouldn't shock me to see the same type of game Friday night. Take #154 Air Force (-5.5) over Colorado State (10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12)
This is a rare week with four plays from my NFL 411 System. All four plays will be rated 5.0 or higher, including another 7-Unit NFL Play on Sunday. That includes a strong game last week in a win over Army. I think that this team has some momentum and has turned things around after a downturn and three straight losses in October. Colorado State has gone 7-1 ATS in their last eight games. But now the books are onto them. And the public is going with the underdog here. The Blue Devils are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after a loss and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. Duke is also 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games when playing a team with a winning record, and the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 games played between these two teams. The Tar Heels are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after rushing for more than 200 yards in their previous game and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games when playing a team with a losing record at home. Duke has allowed an average of just 23.9 ppg this season and the Tar Heels have allowed 26.2 ppg this season. This is a big letdown spot for the Tar Heels, who are coming off 3 straight wins, so grab the points with Duke ATS as your free play for Thursday night. Take 'Over' 5.5 Toronto at Pittsburgh (7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12)
Two teams that aren't afraid to play aggressive and get as many shots on goal as they can will face off on Saturday. The Pittsburgh Penguins still have the most dangerous offensive unit in the league, and Sidney Crosby looks better than ever after coming back from another concussion. The Leafs offense has been great as well, as they're averaging over three goals per game and are getting more shots on net than anyone in the NHL this season. I don't have too much faith in either starting goalie, and I think these teams will be content playing in a fast-paced contest.
