Monday Night Football Picks: Bears at Packers Week 9 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/31/2013
It's really a shame that injuries are going to cost football fans what should have been one of the best "Monday Night Football" matchups of the season. It's Week 9, so every team is dealing with injuries as it's a part of football, but perhaps no two teams are in worse shape in terms of lost star power than the Bears and Packers.
Monday Night Football Picks: Seahawks at Rams Week 8 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/24/2013
I think the St. Louis Rams are desperately seeking any and all publicity. The team doesn't draw well and is third fiddle in town behind the Cardinals and Blues. There's been some talk the franchise could move back to Los Angeles. Team ownership didn't get some $700 million in public funds to renovate the Edward Jones Dome, and the Rams' lease can be up after next season should they chose. Maybe the London Rams?
Monday Night Football Predictions: Vikings at Giants Week 7 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/18/2013
I've started a petition at Change.org for Major League Baseball to begin the World Series on Monday night instead of Wednesday. Because otherwise I'm going to have to watch the 1-4 Minnesota Vikings play the 0-6 New York Giants in certainly the worst “Monday Night Football” matchup of the season -- it makes the recent Jets-Falcons matchup look like a Super Bowl preview. I guess there's always hockey.
Monday Night Football Picks: Colts at Chargers Week 6 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/10/2013
Why don't the Indianapolis Colts have shorter odds to win the AFC Championship? They are currently +1000 on Sportsbook.ag, behind Denver (-150), New England (+600) and tied with Kansas City. OK, obviously the Broncos you can understand. But the Patriots? That's purely because of history, not how New England has played so far this year.
Monday Night Football Betting: Jets at Falcons Bookie Advice
by CarbonSports - 10/7/2013
There’s a general rule of thumb out there that preaches, “Don’t bet against the Atlanta Falcons when they play in the Georgia Dome.” Ask most fans or gamblers, and they’ll tell you the same. It’s become one of these strange betting points because they win at home quite a bit.
Monday Night Football Predictions: Jets at Falcons Week 5 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 10/4/2013
In a bit of a coincidence, we have our second straight Monday Night Football matchup of an AFC East club at an NFC West foe. However, while last Monday's Dolphins-Falcons matchup was between unbeatens, this week's Jets-Falcons game is a bit of a dog. They have combined for three wins thus far.
Monday Night Football Picks: Dolphins at Saints Week 4 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 9/26/2013
I want you to imagine a quarterback who has a Pro Bowl-type season and leads his team to the AFC East title, playing the best of all signal-callers in that division. Of course, I am talking about ... Miami's Ryan Tannehill? OK, let's not put the cart before the horse yet, but Tannehill's Dolphins are with the Chiefs as the biggest early-season surprise in football at 3-0 and tied atop the East with New England. And don't look now, but Tannehill has been much better than the Patriots' Tom Brady.
Monday Night Football Predictions: Raiders at Broncos Week 3 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 9/20/2013
Most times, a 15.5-point spread will be the highest you will see all season, but Monday's night's gap between the Super Bowl-favored Broncos and visiting Oakland paled in comparison to Sunday's Jaguars-Seahawks number. Looking at the remaining MNF schedule this year, this should easily be the worst game in terms of being competitive. I'm not really sure why the Raiders even got a Monday night slot to be honest.
Monday Night Football Picks: Steelers at Bengals Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 9/13/2013
Let me preface this by saying I highly doubt it, but could Mike Tomlin be in some trouble with the Pittsburgh Steelers this season? I hate to overreact to one week, but Pittsburgh looked arguably like the second-worst team in football in its opening 16-9 home loss to Tennessee (Jags are easily the worst). How does a team score only one late touchdown against a defense that allowed an NFL-high 29.4 points a season ago (a franchise record)? That ended a 10-game winning streak in home openers for Pittsburgh.
NFL Picks: Jets at Titans Predictions and Betting Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 12/13/2012
It would be too much to say that this is the worst “Monday Night Football” game ever. It’s certainly not the best one, though. Tennessee is wildly inconsistent, and they have lost their last three and looked underwhelming doing it. At this point they just aren’t a very good team, as their 4-9 record suggests. New York’s record is better at 6-7, but the team is a ridiculous circus and seemingly completely out of control.
NFL Picks: Texans at Patriots Betting Predictions and Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 12/7/2012
Few things in the NFL turn out just as expected. That’s part of the charm of the league. If things happen as they should, though, then this Monday night’s gem should be the best game of the season so far. These teams are in the Top 4 of most people’s NFL power rankings. If you asked a lot of people — especially public bettors — what the AFC Championship matchup was going to be this would be it — though the game is more likely to be in Houston instead of Foxboro.
NFL Predictions: Giants at Redskins Odds and Betting Picks
by Trevor Wenham - 11/29/2012
Eli Manning and company continue their Super Bowl defense as they travel to Washington to play the future of the NFC East — Robert Griffin III and his Redskins. The game has far more in the way of playoff implications than may have seemed likely a month ago. The Giants have dropped two of their last three, and the Redskins have won two in a row, so the lead for the Giants in the NFC East sits at just two games.
Monday Night Football Odds: Bears at 49ers Predictions and NFL Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/17/2012
This should be a showdown of two of the defensive elite in the NFL. Both of these teams recently have looked like legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Instead, though, the Monday Night showdown between the Bears and the 49ers has unfortunately morphed into the “Concussion Bowl”.
Monday Night Football Odds: Chiefs at Steelers Predictions and NFL Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 11/8/2012
Normally when I preview games I look at both sides, identify the strengths and weaknesses, see how they match up and then make an educated assessment of how things could turn out. That’s not going to work here. The Steelers have some issues and haven’t exactly been overwhelming this year, but compared to the Chiefs they are the best team in the world. Kansas City is a total and utter mess right now, and there is absolutely nothing about them to be particularly positive about. It is a franchise totally without direction and focus, and it’s only going to get worse.
Weekly Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks: Week 9 vs. Saints
by Dave Schwab - 10/31/2012
The Philadelphia Eagles will look to snap a three-game losing streak this Monday night when they invade the Superdome to square off against the struggling New Orleans Saints. This NFC tilt is slated to get underway at 8:30 p.m. (EST) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Monday Night Football Picks: 49ers at Cardinals Odds and NFL Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/25/2012
This is a more significant game for the landscape of the NFC West than pretty much everyone would have guessed when it first popped up on the schedule. The Niners were supposed to be the class of the division, with the Cardinals far behind. Yet the winner of this one is guaranteed at least a share of first place at the end of the night. If San Francisco wins, that lead will be comfortable.
Monday Night Football Odds: Lions at Bears Betting Predictions and NFL Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 10/18/2012
If you had asked people to predict what the NFC North would look like after six weeks before the season started, I suspect you would have gotten very few correct answers. The odd person may have guessed that the Bears would be alone in first place, but few would have guessed that the Vikings would be their closest rival, that the Packers would be at just .500, or that the Lions would be in last and, until last week, struggling. Strange times.
Monday Night Football Predictions: Broncos at Chargers Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 10/11/2012
No game is the first half of the season is truly and completely crucial — there is still time to overcome any setback. This game is as close as it gets to a must-win in Week 6, though. If the Chargers win they’ll be two games up, and they will have the advantage in the tiebreaker over the Broncos so far as well. That’s a huge advantage.
Monday Night Football Picks: Texans at Jets Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/4/2012
Before the season when you looked at this game you probably saw a potential gem. Two teams on the rise, expected to be fighting for their division titles, and playing each other as elite members of the AFC. It hasn’t quite turned out that way.
Monday Night Football Predictions: Bears at Cowboys Odds and NFL Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 9/28/2012
It’s early in the season, but the stakes are very high in this Monday night contest. Both teams are at 2-1, so the winner will be, at the very least, tied for the lead in their division. For the Bears a win would be even sweeter because it would guarantee to keep them at least a game ahead of Detroit and Green Bay — the two strongest contenders in the NFC North.
