Notre Dame Fighting Irish Odds to Win the 2015 NCAA Tournament with Picks and Predictions
by George Monroy - 3/16/2015
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish tore through the ACC Tournament with dominating victories over Duke and North Carolina to catapult the team into a No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region bracket. The Fighting Irish played inspired basketball throughout the conference tournament and received a huge 24-point performance from their senior guard Jerian Grant during the ACC Championship Game and put the matchup out of reach with a 26-3 second-half run.
2015 NCAA Tournament Seed Statistics and Analysis
by Alan Matthews - 3/13/2015
Americans are funny people. They generally root for the underdogs, in any sport, but bet the favorites. At least casual fans/bettors do. Yet we all yearn for that one dominant team to make things more interesting and to either love or hate. Think the Yankees in baseball (until recently), Patriots in the NFL, Alabama in college football and Duke in NCAA basketball.
Northern Iowa Panthers Odds to Win the 2015 NCAA Tournament with Picks and Predictions
by George Monroy - 3/12/2015
The Northern Iowa Panthers needed a furious second-half comeback during the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to secure their first postseason appearance in four seasons and validate a ridiculous 30-3 record that saw the squad win 19 of their last 20 games. The Panthers have six NCAA Tournament appearances in the school’s history and were able to make a Sweet 16 run during their last outing in 2010. They ended up a missed shot or two away from going even deeper.
2015 AAC Tournament Expert Picks and American Athletic Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/11/2015
No one takes the American Athletic Conference seriously. The league is the illegitimate child of the old Big East and Conference USA and was essentially thrown together by a bunch of schools that still wanted a piece of big time college football money. However, as comically mismatched as this league is, the fact of the matter is that the defending national champion hails from the AAC and this league should end up sending no less than four teams to the NCAA Tournament next week.
2015 Big West Tournament Expert Picks and Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/11/2015
The Big West is one of my favorite mid-major conferences. The league is an oasis for transfer players and cast-offs from major conference programs. It is also a bit of a throwback league in that most of the teams still play in bandbox “arenas” that closely resemble what you’d expect a major metropolitan high school team or a quality junior college team to play in.
Wichita State Shockers Odds to Win the 2015 NCAA Tournament with Picks and Predictions
by George Monroy - 3/11/2015
The Wichita State Shockers may not be entering the NCAA Tournament with an undefeated record and history hanging in the balance like they did last year, but that lack of pressure might be a blessing in disguise for the No. 12-ranked team, who will no longer have a huge target on their back heading into March and hopefully early April. The Shockers are in the middle of a spectacular run that has seen the team make three straight tournament appearances (not including 2015), notching a Final Four appearance and perfect regular season in the process.
College Basketball Handicapping: Tips and Advice for Conference Tournament Betting
by Trevor Whenham - 3/5/2015
We are about to head into college basketball conference tournament season. In the eyes of most people it’s just an appetizer before the main course of the NCAA Tournament. For bettors who are prepared and focused, though, betting conference tournaments can actually be a very profitable activity. In order to do your best at this time of year, though, you need to be very aware of what makes these tournaments different than other games that we bet on.
NCAA Tournament Handicapping: Unranked Teams to Watch
by Trevor Whenham - 3/5/2015
The betting public generally pays the most attention — too much attention — to the ranked, high-profile teams that head into the NCAA Tournament with big records and bigger reputations. If we have learned anything over the years, though, it’s that a team doesn’t necessarily have to be ranked to do some damage when the tournament rolls around. It’s hard to really get a sense of which unranked teams are best positioned to do damage until the field is set and the bracket is released, but here are five teams that stand out as intriguing squads at this point:
Gonzaga Bulldogs Odds to Win the 2015 NCAA Tournament with Picks and Predictions
by George Monroy - 3/5/2015
The Gonzaga Bulldogs dropped their final game of the season to a BYU squad that might not even qualify for the NCAA tournament in a few weeks. The loss, which came only days before the postseason is set to begin, broke the Bulldogs 21-game winning streak and an even bigger 41-game home winning streak, which was the longest in the nation and lasted just over two years. The BYU upset may not be a larger indicator of something wrong with the squad, but it was still a disappointing way to end the regular season.
Kansas Jayhawks Odds to Win the 2015 NCAA Tournament with Picks and Predictions
by George Monroy - 3/5/2015
The Kansas Jayhawks lost three games during the final month of the regular season and took a tumble down the AP Top 25 rankings, settling into the No. 9 spot with one matchup left on their schedule before the Big 12 Conference Tournament rolls around. Kansas clinched its regular-season title with a home victory over West Virginia, but the accomplishment wasn’t without a cost as forward Perry Ellis, the team’s leading scorer, suffered a knee sprain late in the first half, and is expected to miss a week.
Sports Betting Insights: Betting on NCAA Final Four Futures and Props
by Dave Schwab - 4/2/2014
The Florida Gators started this tournament as not only the No. 1-ranked team in the country but the top overall seed playing out of the South Region. The odds they go and win this tournament have been set at -120. After rolling through the first four rounds with double-digit victories, there is nothing that tells me they will fail to seal the deal with a win over Connecticut on Saturday and a win on Monday night over either Kentucky or Wisconsin. The Wildcats have the next best odds at +280 followed by the Badgers at +400 and the Huskies at +700.
2014 Final Four Betting Trends for NCAA Tournament Handicapping
by Trevor Whenham - 4/2/2014
As we get ready for the last weekend of what has been a great NCAA Tournament, here are some Final Four betting trends for the four squads to help get you prepared for the upcoming action and to help you have the best chance to make profit before the nets are cut down on Monday:
2014 Final Four Coaches: Who Will Lead His Team to Championship?
by Trevor Whenham - 4/2/2014
There is one consistent trend among the four teams this year in the Final Four, as there is almost every year at this point in the college basketball season — these are four exceptionally well-coached teams. These 2014 Final Four coaches have very different backgrounds and different levels of experience with the challenge they are facing this year, but they should all have their teams ready to go by Saturday:
Final Four Bracket Picks for 2014 NCAA Tournament
by Trevor Whenham - 4/1/2014
Well, darn. I had Michigan State beating Michigan in the championship game in all of the brackets I have done up to this point. Needless to say, it is time for me to rethink my NCAA Tournament brackets one last time as we head into the Final Four.
2014 Final Four Predictions and NCAA Tournament Picks
by Trevor Whenham - 4/1/2014
The Wildcats, who had been an ongoing train wreck all year from beyond the 3-point arc, beat one of the top-shooting teams in the country largely by outdoing them at their own game. Kentucky was a gaudy 7-for-11 from beyond the arc, while Michigan was 7-for-18. It was an impressive effort. Of course, it wasn’t a team-wide phenomenon — James Young went 3-for-4, and Aaron Harrison had the other four threes, including the incredibly impressive winning shot. It is very hard to believe that the team can shoot that well again from deep.
Elite Eight Bracket Picks for 2014 NCAA Tournament
by Trevor Whenham - 3/29/2014
After the Sweet 16 was set earlier in the week I set out to pick my bracket again from that starting point. It was both a success and a disappointment. The good news is that my final pitting hated rivals from the state of Michigan is still alive, and Florida, another Final Four pick, is still alive. The only Final Four team I missed out on was Baylor, and I saw Baylor-Wisconsin as a coin flip with the winner of that game destined to win the region, so I just shift my focus slightly.
March Madness Betting: Best and Worst Sweet 16 Wagers
by George Monroy - 3/26/2014
The NCAA Tournament gave fans three rounds of ridiculously-exciting basketball games, close matchups and more upsets than anyone’s bracket was equipped to handle. The short tournament break, however, will allow bettors a chance regroup and start all over after the opening rounds probably threw most people for a loop. With only 16 teams left in the tournament, bettors can focus on finding the best value over the next few days, as opposed to the volume betting opportunities that the first few rounds offered.
Sports Betting Insights: Betting the Favorites in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16
by Dave Schwab - 3/26/2014
The betting public, as a whole, generally has the tendency to lean towards the favorite in any sporting event, so this week I dug deep into the stats and betting trends to come up with the top favorite to wager on in each of the four regions in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.
Sweet 16 Wagering: Underdog Value on Betting Odds for NCAA Tournament
by Trevor Whenham - 3/26/2014
There are eight Sweet 16 games coming up on Thursday and Friday in the NCAA Tournament. That means that there are quite likely going to be eight underdogs to consider wagering on. Obviously, not all will be attractive, but some sure are. Here are three that really stand out (odds are from Sportsbook.ag).
