NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions: South Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
Three of the greatest college basketball programs in history highlight the field in this year's South Region. North Carolina, Kentucky and UCLA have combined for a stunning 25 National Championships and are the top three seeds in this bracket. Not only do these programs have the pedigree of proven long-term winners. But they also feature star-studded rosters and at least five players that are likely to be among the Top 20 NBA draft picks this summer.
March Madness Bracket Predictions: Midwest Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
The Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament is absolutely stacked! Of the 16 teams in this quadrant we have the Big 12 regular-season and tournament champions, the Big Ten regular-season and tournament champions, the Pac-12 regular-season champion, the second-best team in the ACC's regular season, and the Big East runner-up. And that is to say nothing of the some of the best mid-major teams in the country with Nevada, Rhode Island and Vermont all ready to spring an upset.
March Madness Bracket Predictions: West Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
It seems like every year around this time I am caught making an argument for why people need to stop underrated teams from out West. Whether it is a Pac-12 powerhouse that I felt has been underseeded or some Mountain West mid-major that I'm making an upset case for, I find myself constantly defending teams from the Left Coast.
NCAA Tournament Bracket Predictions: East Region
by Robert Ferringo - 3/14/2017
Villanova enters the NCAA Tournament as the defending National Champion and the No. 1 ranked team in the country. The Wildcats are 31-3 and the Big East regular-season and tournament champions. They were posted by the selection committee as the No. 1 overall seed in the entire tournament.

2017 March Madness Bracket Picks: Vulnerable High Seeds
by Trevor Whenham - 3/14/2017
This is a strange NCAA Tournament bracket. Normally there is plenty of vulnerability up high. This year it doesn't feel that way, though. I see all four No. 1 seeds making the Elite Eight without much challenge. I like at least three of the four No. 2 teams as well - Louisville is the only uncertainty, and only because they have a tough path. So, where are the vulnerable high seeds? On the No. 3 line as it turns out. Three teams at that seed just don't deserve to be there, and all three are going to struggle to live up to their expectations. Two share a conference, which isn't a coincidence. Here are the biggest March Madness vulnerable high seeds:
2017 March Madness Bracket Picks and Expert NCAA Tournament Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 3/14/2017
This feels like a strange bracket this year for the NCAA Tournament. It simultaneously feels wide open and quite chalky. It feels like there are eight or 10 teams that could legitimately win it all, but it also feels like a whole lot of the games are destined to be won by the higher seeds - more than usual. I've gone over the bracket several times already, and each time it turns out differently. This is a tough one. And that's why we're here to help.
Help Filling Out NCAA Tournament Brackets: Sweet 16 Surprises
by Trevor Whenham - 3/13/2017
When you are looking at your NCAA Tournament bracket you know that if things turned out exactly as expected the Sweet 16 would be made up of just Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 seeds. It never works out like that, though, and this year is unlikely to be an exception. Top seeds will falter, and lower seeds will rise up and make a nice run. The trick, of course, is to figure out which of those lower seeds are going to shine.
2017 March Madness Betting and Handicapping: Cheat Sheet for NCAA Tournament Wagering
by Chris Vasile - 3/13/2017
The "first round" of the 2017 NCAA Tournament gets underway tomorrow with the first pair of play-in games set to tip off at 6:40 p.m. EST. In the first matchup, we will see No.16 New Orleans (-1.5) do battle with No.16 Mount St. Mary's. That game will be followed up by a battle of No.11 seeds -- Wake Forest (-1) versus Kansas State. The winner of those games get to stake claim to a tournament win despite much of the sporting world not recognizing these play-in games as tournament action.
NCAA Basketball Expert Predictions: Three Interesting March 14 Opening Lines
by Alan Matthews - 3/13/2017
There are way too many NCAA Tournament props at the various sportsbooks to address them all here. One I like at BetOnline is whether a team seeded No.1 through 4 wins the Big Dance, with "yes" at -900 and "no" at +550. Only three times since the tourney first expanded in 1985 has a seed lower than No. 4 won it all: No. 8 Villanova in '85, No. 6 Kansas in 1988 and No. 7 UConn three years ago. At -900, that's probably not worth your time even though it's probably a near-lock. Perhaps a better one is whether a No. 1 or No. 2 wins it all with yes at -280 and no at +220.
March Madness Brackets Help: Advice on No. 5 vs. No. 12 Matchup
by Trevor Whenham - 3/13/2017
There isn't a seeding in the NCAA Tournament that draws more attention and intrigue than the 5 vs. 12 line in the first round. And for good reason - in 128 meetings since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985 the much lower seed has won 46 times, which is a very strong 36 percent win rate. You could make some nice money on the moneyline over the years at a win percentage like that. And lately you could also win nicely against the spread - the 12s have gone 8-3-1 ATS in the last three years. The No. 12 seeds bounced back from losing all four games in 2015 to win twice last year.
NCAA Tournament Bracket Strategy and Advice: Dangerous Lower Seeds
by Chris Vasile - 3/13/2017
With Selection Sunday in the rear-view mirror and the field of 68 set for the 2017 NCAA Tournament, the public is now in a race against time to handicap all four play-in games and 32 first-round games that will be contested over the next five days. Most bettors have a routine when handicapping games, but not even that stops them from debating (complaining) about the teams that got terrible draws. Whether it was seeding or the region they got sent to, there is always some sort of backlash from the public towards the selection committee regarding the bracket.
March Madness Money Management Tips and Expert Betting Advice
by Trevor Whenham - 3/11/2017
For most people the NCAA Tournament is all about brackets and pools. While that is undeniably fun and potentially profitable, March Madness is also a great time to be alive for bettors. There are plenty of games to choose from, they are all televised, you don't have to worry about home-court advantage, and you can be certain that teams aren't going to be holding anything back. It's a bit of a betting dream, really. To maximize your betting potential, though, you need to make sure that your March Madness money management is as strong as it possibly can be. Here are four tips to keep in mind in pursuit of that goal:
March Madness Bracket Advice and Tips By Expert NCAA Tournament Handicapper
by Trevor Whenham - 3/10/2017
Are you planning on filling out a March Madness pool this year? Dumb question - of course you are. I mean, you have a pulse and you are aware that sports exist, so it pretty much goes without saying. Also, reading this article is a pretty big giveaway as well. While so many people fill out brackets every year, only a tiny fraction of those people wind up winning their pool or making money. You, of course, need to be one of that tiny fraction. And the chances of that happening are much higher if you stick to this March Madness bracket advice and tips.
March Madness Betting Trends for 2017 NCAA Tournament Wagering
by Trevor Whenham - 3/9/2017
The NCAA Tournament is one of the great sporting events in the world, and the Final Four is rarely a letdown. For many people, though, the best part of the tournament isn't actually the final weekend but rather the first two days. On the first Thursday and Friday of action it's wall-to-wall action. Little work gets done as games are played from practically sunrise until well after sundown. It is, truly, madness.
2017 SEC Conference Tournament Predictions with College Basketball Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/9/2017
I listened to an interview of an SEC athletic director on Wednesday morning. He was lamenting the fact that the ACC is projected to get nine or even 10 teams in the NCAA Tournament. While the SEC, probably the worst of the major conferences in basketball, was looking at earning four or five bids at most.
2017 Big 12 Conference Tournament Predictions with College Basketball Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/8/2017
No one dominates like Kansas dominates. The Jayhawks have won the Big 12 regular season an astounding 13 straight times, completely owning one of the best leagues in the country. They've been only slightly more susceptible in the conference tournament, winning the Big 12 title seven times in 17 opportunities since the turn of the century.
How To Wager on the NCAA Tournament and March Madness Betting Tips
by Chris Vasile - 3/8/2017
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to March. It is the third month of the calendar year and consists of 31 days. It is a month that gives bettors a chance to wager on NHL, NBA, European Soccer and everything in between. It is also a month that allows us to whet our appetite for the upcoming MLB season that is just a few weeks away. Above all else, though, March is known for March Madness.
NCAA Basketball Expert Predictions: Three Interesting March 9 Opening Lines
by Alan Matthews - 3/8/2017
I was hugely rooting for Milwaukee to upset Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League title game on Tuesday night as the Panthers were last in the conference in the regular season and their 23 losses would have been the most ever by a team entering the Big Dance. Alas, Northern Kentucky, a new Division I program, reached its first Big Dance with a 59-53 win (covering by a half-point on two late free throws). The Horizon Tournament was broken wide open when co-regular season champ Valparaiso lost star Alec Peters to a season-ending injury before it. Valpo was taken down last weekend by Milwaukee. There has been at least one team with a losing record in the past five NCAA Tournaments. Will that streak continue?
2017 Big Ten Conference Tournament Predictions with College Basketball Betting Odds
by Robert Ferringo - 3/7/2017
Perhaps no conference in the country experienced the talent drain that the Big Ten endured during this past offseason. The result has been a parity-driven league that saw several big-name programs rise and fall (and vice versa) throughout a harried conference campaign. But that parity and inconsistency has had another consequence: it has made the Big Ten Tournament one of the most intriguing conference championships in the country this week, with a host of storylines and a seemingly endless crop of teams fighting for NCAA Tournament berths, along with a league banner.
