2014 World Cup Free Picks: Brazil vs. Mexico
3 p.m., Tuesday, June 17 – Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza (ESPN)
Match Betting Lines
Brazil again are priced to win -325 in their second group play match of the tournament. Mexico are +1200, and the draw is +500. The total is set at 2.5 goals, -120 for the ‘over’ and EVEN for the ‘under’.
Brazil
The hosts didn’t score the first goal of their opening match, but Brazil bounced back for a 3-1 win over Croatia. Three points in the book, and now they will look to make it two straight over Mexico. Neymar was in fine form with his double, however the team could use some more from winger Hulk as well as wingbacks Marcelo and Dani Alves.
Mexico
Mexico doesn’t have the firepower to compete with Brazil, but with a win under the team’s belts, that will give them confidence to face the tournament favorites. Mexico will need to be crisp in their counter attack and even better in set piece opportunities if they are to take anything from mighty Brazil.
Match Analysis
Brazil will be looking to atone for its own goal against Croatia by jumping on Mexico early and seeing what perhaps a quick strike could mean for this match. Mexico needs to defend flawlessly to have a chance in this match, and they can build off their 1-0 win against Cameroon.
Key Injuries, Suspensions, Yellow Cards
Brazil’s Neymar picked up a yellow card in the opener, and while a second one here doesn’t do too much damage, it would put him in harm’s way for a potential third and thus a suspension.
Josh’s Pick
Brazil will score and score often here. Mexico might net a goal or two in consolation, however, the hosts are going to step up and take this one from start to finish. High scoring match between these two squads, 4-1 to Brazil.
