Birmingham Stallions USFL Preview 2022: Season Win Total Picks, Odds and Predictions
Birmingham Stallions Team Preview
Once again, a QB was taken with the first pick of the USFL draft by a team. In this case it was Alex McGough out of Florida International to the Birmingham Stallions. McGough played for the FIU Panthers from 2014 through 2017. He was the starter for FIU from day one and had quite a career. His senior year was his best of the bunch with McGough finishing with 2,798 yards completing 232 of 355 passes on the season. he through 17 touchdowns and tallied 8 interceptions. He finished with a QB rating of 142.9. Over the course of his college career, McGough racked up 9,091 yards through the air with 65 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. He also carried the ball 308 times in his college career for a total of 535 yards. He earned 16 touchdowns via the ground game.
McGough was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. It was the first QB the Seahawks had drafted since they drafted Russell Wilson in 2012. However, McGough was waived in September of the same year and was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars in January of 2019. He was then picked up by the Houston Texans before getting one more shot with Seattle. He'll get another shot at the QB position with the Stallions in the first season of its existence.
Their second pick in the draft was Aaron Adeoye out of Southeast Missouri State. Adeoye is an interesting case because he started his college career playing basketball. He only switched over in his fifth season of eligibility and ended up signing to Champions Indoor Football for the Salina Liberty in April of 2017. He also played in The Spring League in 2018 and also the Alliance of American Football before the league went under in 2019. Adeoye had a minicamp tryout for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and ended up signing with them the same year. He was waived during final roster cuts that same year and went on to play on Baltimore's practice squad. In January of 2020, Adeoye signed a reserve contract with the Ravens and was waived during the final roster cuts in September of 2020. He also spent a short amount of time with the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers before getting drafted by the Birmingham Stallions.
Their third pick of the draft was outside linebacker Chauncy Haney who played his college ball for North Greenville University. Over the course of his college career at NGU, Haney played in 35 games and racked up 135 total tackles. He had 13.5 sacks with 9.5 of them coming in his senior year. He blocked 5 kicks in his career and forced two fumbles. He finished his career having earned 2019 Division II Second Team All-America honors and was the 2019 Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the year.

Tony Brooks-James will be starting in the backfield for the Stallions. He played his college football for the Oregon Ducks from 2015-2018. His best year came in his sophomore season when he had 101 attempts for 771 yards on the ground. He had 926 total yards from scrimmage that season. In total, Brooks-James finished with 1,863 yards on the ground with 18 touchdowns. He also caught 40 balls for 392 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brooks-James was brought into rookie minicamp where he caught the eye of the Atlanta Falcons. He signed as an undrafted free agent in May of 2019. Brooks-James would play for numerous NFL teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings.
Josh's Pick: Vegas has the Birmingham Stallions in the middle of the pack in term of odds to win the title at +600. I see them finishing towards at the bottom of the league alongside the New Orleans Breakers.
