UFC 149 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 7/20/2012
The UFC is coming to my hometown of Calgary on Saturday night for UFC 149. Given all the problems they have had with this card it could easily be the last time they come here. Normally I start these previews by talking about any changes there may be to the lineup due to injuries. If I were to do that here, though, it would take me days.

The UFC has had terrible luck with injuries and underwhelming cards recently. The UFC 148 card, taking place Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, should help erase those memories. The main event pitting challenger Chael Sonnen against top MMA pound-for-pound fighter and seemingly eternal champion Anderson Silva is certainly the most intriguing and anticipated fight of the year.
UFC 148 Predictions: Sonnen vs. Silva Odds and Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 7/2/2012
Saturday will mark one of the most anticipated rematches in the history of the UFC for UFC 148. Long considered the best middleweight fighter on the planet, Anderson Silva (-280 on Bovada) will step into the cage with the stiffest challenge of his career. Standing across the Octagon from the champ will be the man that nearly defeated him at UFC 117 back in 2010, Chael Sonnen (+220).
UFC 147 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 6/21/2012
UFC 146 was very kind to us — my recommended bet was a parlay that paid off handsomely. Here’s hoping we can carry the momentum forward onto this card. The problem with UFC 147, which takes place on Saturday, June 23, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is that it just isn’t very interesting. It was supposed to be, but there have been so many changes to the lineup that there just isn’t too much left to get excited about.
UFC 146 Odds and Betting Predictions for Full Fight Card
by T.O. Whenham - 5/25/2012
If you don’t like heavyweights then you aren’t going to be a fan of Saturday night’s UFC card from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Not only is the main event a Junior Dos Santos title defense against Frank Mir, but all five fights on the main card feature the biggest of fighters.
UFC 146 Odds and Predictions: Dos Santos vs. Mir
by Scott Johnson - 5/23/2012
The combined weight of the 10 UFC heavyweight fighters that will comprise the main card of the promotion’s next event, UFC 146, is an unearthly 2,446 pounds. Headlining this heavyweight lineup will be the newly-crowned UFC 265-pound champion Junior ‘Cigano’ Dos Santos (-500 at Bovada). This will be Dos Santos’ first title defense and opposing the champion will be Frank Mir (+350), who will be appearing in his fifth UFC title fight.
UFC on Fox 3 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 5/1/2012
Jim Miller and Nate Diaz will meet in the main event of the latest UFC on FOX card this Saturday. Miller (-225) has long been at the top of the division, but despite an 8-1 record since mid-2009, a shot at UFC Lightweight Title has eluded him. Diaz (+175) has been living in the shadow of his older brother, but with back-to-back impressive performance he has thrust himself into the title conversation.
UFC 144 Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 4/20/2012
If it seems like it has been a really long time since we have had a major UFC event there is a good reason for that — it has been a really long time. The event that was supposed to March 24 in Montreal was cancelled, so UFC 144 was nearly two months ago on February 26. We’re back now, though, and we get to see arguably the most exciting fighter currently in the sport defend his light heavyweight title. UFC 145 takes place on Saturday, April 21 at Philips Arena in Atlanta. Here’s how the six fights on the main card break down (all odds are from Bovada):

With Pride no longer looming as a major rival, the UFC returns to Japan, the turf of Pride, for the first time since 2000. The UFC 144 card, which will be shown here Saturday night thanks to time zones, is unique for another reason — it features seven fights on the main card instead of the normal five. That means that the PPV will be four hours instead of three — great news for fans. Here’s a look at how the main card shapes up (all UFC 144 odds are from Bovada):
UFC 144 Predictions: Edgar vs. Henderson Betting Odds
by Scott Johnson - 2/20/2012
Saturday the UFC returns Japan for the first time since UFC 29: Defense of the Belts. Just like its predecessor, UFC 144: Edgar vs Henderson will feature a UFC title fight as the lightweight champion Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar (-130, all lines from Bovada) defends his title against the challenger Ben ‘Smooth’ Henderson (EVEN).
UFC 143 Odds and Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 2/3/2012
When UFC 143 ends on Saturday night we will have witnessed, at least for the time being, the end of an era. Georges St. Pierre absolutely dominated the welterweight division. While no fighter could beat him, injuries have got the best of him. He’ll still have his day when he is healthy, but on Saturday an interim titleholder will be named.
UFC 143 Predictions: Diaz vs. Condit Betting Odds
by Scott Johnson - 1/31/2012
After UFC 143 a new name will move to the top of the welterweight ranks as former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz (-225 on odds from Bovada) battles former WEC Champion Carlos Condit (+175) for the UFC interim-Welterweight Championship.
UFC on Fox 2 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 1/27/2012
The inaugural “UFC on Fox” event in November, which saw Junior dos Santos claim the Heavyweight title, was a ratings and critical success, so they are trying it again. Last time there was only one fight televised, so this event should be three times as fun — we’ll see a light heavyweight main event and two strong middleweight fights.
UFC on Fox 2 Odds: Evans vs. Davis Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 1/24/2012
On Jan. 28 the UFC and Fox present the second major instalment of their broadcasting deal with “UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis”. Building upon the success of the first UFC on Fox, this card will feature a main event that could determine the next title contender as former divisional champion Rashad Evans -185 (odds from Bovada) battles undefeated Phil Davis +150 with a shot at the reining UFC 205-pound Champ Jon Jones on the line.
UFC 142 Predictions and Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 1/13/2012
The UFC is heading back to Brazil for the second time and for the first since UFC 134 last August, on Saturday for UFC 142. The last card was a rousing success with rabid crowds and strong matches. They are back again with a very Brazilian-heavy card. Every single fight on the card has at least one Brazilian, and there are 12 in total in the t0 bouts. The most famous of Brazilians — Anderson Silva — won’t be in action, but featherweight champion Jose Aldo is a solid replacement.
UFC 142 Odds: Mendes vs. Aldo Betting Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 1/9/2012
The UFC returns to Brazil to kick-start 2012 with a dynamite Featherweight title fight headlining UFC 142. On Jan. 14, Jose Aldo -265 will return to the cage looking to defend his title for a third time and extend his winning streak to a remarkable 13 straight. This will be Aldo’s first opportunity to headline a UFC event after putting his title on the line in two co-main event matchups.
UFC 141 Predictions and MMA Betting Picks
by T.O. Whenham - 12/29/2011
On Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas it’s time for the 18th and final major event of a very busy year for the UFC. There’s no title on the line for this one, but the main event sure doesn’t lack intrigue. Brock Lesnar finally returns to action for the first time since October of last year. He has been hit hard by health issues — and a couple of legal ones as well — but he’s back in form and ready to go. He faces Alistair Overeem, with the winner in line to face Junior dos Santos for the Heavyweight Championship.
UFC 141 Odds and Predictions: Lesnar vs. Overeem Picks
by Scott Johnson - 12/26/2011
The curtain is about to fall on 2011, but not before heavyweights collide in the main event of UFC 141. On Dec. 30, Brock Lesnar (+115) battles Alistair Overeem (-145) with a shot at the UFC Heavyweight Championship on the line. One is a highly decorated two time NCAA All-American collegiate wrestler while the other was the 2010 K-1 Kickboxing Grand Prix Champion and one of the most lethal strikers in Mixed Martial Arts.
UFC 140 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 12/9/2011
The UFC returns to Toronto again on Saturday for UFC 140. The main event is one fans have been waiting for — another chance to see if Jon Jones can continue to live up to the impossible hype surrounding him. No one has defended the light heavyweight title twice successfully since Chuck Liddell did it in 2006, so Jones could cap an impressive year in style with a win here.
UFC 140 Odds and Predictions: Jones vs. Machida Betting Picks
by Scott Johnson - 12/6/2011
This Saturday the UFC returns to Toronto for UFC 140 Jones vs Machida. The main event will feature the reigning light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones as he attempts to defend his title for a second time. Opposing the champ will be Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, the last man prior to Jones to win and then successfully defend the light heavyweight title.
