UFC 165 Odds and Betting Picks

The UFC heads back to Toronto again for UFC 165. The home of the Maple Leafs and Raptors will play host to not one but two title fights on Saturday night. The one everyone wants to see if the Light Heavyweight Championship between champ Jon Jones and giant contender Alexander Gustafsson. The co-headliner features Renan Barao defending his interim Bantamweight title against Eddie Wineland in a fight that was supposed to happen at UFC 161 but was delayed due to a foot injury from Barao.
UFC 164 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 8/29/2013
The UFC heads to unfamiliar territory for UFC 164 on Saturday night when they hit the home of the Milwaukee Bucks. Bucks fans haven’t had a lot to cheer for on the court lately, but they should be treated to a very solid card here. There’s a title fight, a long-anticipated heavyweight showdown, and some other intriguing matchups.
UFC 163 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 8/1/2013
The UFC heads back to Brazil this weekend for UFC 163 on Saturday night. The hometown crowd will be thrilled because beloved featherweight champion Jose Aldo will be defending his title in front of his country mates. Originally he was supposed to face Anthony Pettis, but an injury forced Pettis out and Jung Chan-Sung into the bout.
UFC 160 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 5/23/2013
The UFC returns to MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas for the next edition of their pay-per-view spectacle. We seem to be past the era of interesting names for events, so this event, which features the headline heavyweight championship title fight between Cain Velasquez and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva — their second meeting — is cleverly called “Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2”.
UFC 159 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 4/26/2013
There have been plenty of smaller UFC events recently, but we haven’t seen a full pay-per-view event since March 16 when Georges St. Pierre emphatically showed Nick Diaz who was boss. Well, they are back. They are heading to the not-so-beautiful environs of Newark, New Jersey, this week for UFC 159 on Saturday, April 27. On the main card there is a light heavyweight championship tilt as well as four fights that are more mildly-interesting than truly captivating. Let’s take a look at how it breaks down (all odds are from Sportsbook.ag):
UFC 158 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 3/15/2013
If you don’t like welterweights, then you aren’t going to be much of a fan of UFC 158, which is being held at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The top three fights on the card all feature the 170-pound fighters. Obviously, the Montreal fans aren’t going to mind — their hero, Georges St. Pierre, will be defending his title in his second fight back from the knee injury that cost him a year and a half. Here’s how the main card breaks down (all UFC 158 odds are from Bovada):
UFC 157 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 2/21/2013
When the UFC heads to the Honda Center in Anaheim for UFC 157 on Saturday night, they’ll need something the organization has never had to worry about before — a dressing room for female fighters. The headline fight of this card will be the first women’s fight in UFC history. That makes this by far the biggest spotlight that women’s fighting has ever been under. No pressure. Here’s how that fight and the rest of the main card breaks down with some predictions for each match (all UFC 157 odds are from Bovada):
UFC 156 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/30/2013
This is the third UFC event of the year but the first on pay-per-view, and, therefore, it will be the first that really counts in the eyes of many. Taking advantage of the wildly-popular Super Bowl weekend in Vegas, the event will be held at Mandalay Bay on Saturday night, Feb. 2. The highlight of the card is the return to action of Featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Due to a variety of circumstances — mostly his injuries — he has been sidelined since January of last year. Against former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar we’ll find out in a hurry if he’s still the dominant fighter he was, or if time and rust of robbed him of his edge.
UFC 155 Odds and Betting Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 12/27/2012
If it seems like forever since we last had a major UFC event, that’s because it has been. Earlier this year we were having an event practically every week, but UFC 154 was all the way back on Nov. 17, so our patience has been tested for six weeks. UFC 155 takes place on Saturday, Dec. 29 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. There have been TV events in the meantime, but that’s not the same. This isn’t the best card that the UFC has ever assembled, but it is also far from the worst. The heavyweight championship is up for grabs, and we see a pretty good lightweight fight and tons of action in the middleweight class on the main card as well. Without further ado, our UFC 155 preview (all odds are from Bovada):
UFC 154 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 11/15/2012
The UFC is returning to Canada on Saturday night — Montreal this time around. When the organization goes north of the border there is a decent chance that Georges St. Pierre will be fighting if he is healthy. Mercifully, GSP is indeed healthy after an 18-month absence. Now the guy who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world in my mind gets to show whether he has lost a step. The rest of the main card isn’t the strongest or the most interesting we have ever seen by any means, but given the anticipation I’m sure no one will notice or care.
UFC 153 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/11/2012
We are heading back to Brazil for another UFC card — this time UFC 153, which comes to us on Saturday night from Rio de Janeiro. As we have come to expect when the UFC goes road tripping, the card is heavy on the home country content — each of the six fights on the main card features at least one Brazilian. At the top of the pile, of course, is Anderson Silva — the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.
UFC 152 Odds and Betting Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 9/20/2012
If it seems like forever since we last previewed a UFC event it’s because it has been forever. UFC 151 was cancelled thanks to even more of the injuries that have plagued the organization all year. That means that Aug. 11 was the last time we had an event to write about. Just over a month might not seem like a long time to outsiders, but given the torrid pace the UFC has been holding cards the last couple of years it is certainly notable.
UFC 150 Predictions and Betting Odds
by T.O. Whenham - 8/8/2012
UFC 149, which unfortunately took place in my hometown of Calgary, was perhaps the worst card ever held by the organization. It was a mess — both to watch and to bet on. It’s a much better card this time around for UFC 150, which comes to us from the Pepsi Center in Denver on Saturday night.
UFC 150 Odds: Edgar vs. Henderson Betting Predictions
by Scott Johnson - 8/7/2012
This Saturday, UFC 150 will play host to yet another UFC lightweight title rematch. At UFC 144, former WEC Champion Benson Henderson won a five-round unanimous decision over Frankie Edgar to capture the UFC’s Lightweight Championship. As many people expected him too, Edgar immediately called for a rematch and was awarded it by the UFC. The precedent for an immediate return engagement had long been established through Edgar’s title reign.
