On Wednesday afternoon, Argentina will try to book their place in the Round of 16 when they go up against Scotland in Group D play. Argentina played to a scoreless draw against Japan in the opening fixture and lost 1-0 to England in their second game. Scotland sits at the bottom of the group after two 2-1 defeats to England and Japan. Despite being behind Argentina in the standings, Scotland will slightly favored going into this match.

Key Players for Scotland:

Erin Cuthbert - The Chelsea striker has yet to score in this tournament, but she didn't get much distribution in those first two games. Cuthbert did score four goals in the eight qualification games, though, so she definitely does have the talent to do some damage for this Scotland side. Scotland should be a bit more aggressive in this game, so the 20-year-old should get some chances in front of goal.

Jennifer Beattie - Beattie is an excellent defender and one of the leaders on this Scotland team. Argentina will look to play through the middle of Scotland's defense, so it will be Beattie's job to shut down whoever she's marking and get her team going the other way. She's played well through her team's first two games, and that was against much stiffer competition.

Argentina's defensive approach has put them in a position to make it to the next round, but they'll want to be a little bit more aggressive against Scotland to increase their chances of securing all three points. They've only had a total of three shots on goal through two games, so head coach Carlos Borrello will need to come up with a plan that puts his attackers in better positions to test Scotland's defense.

Key Players for Argentina:

Agustina Barroso - Considering that this is Barroso's first World Cup, it's pretty incredible how composed the central defender has been through Argentina's first two games. It's even more impressive when you consider that those two games were against very high-ranked opponents. She'll have to be up to the task again on Wednesday against Argentina in a game that Argentina will probably have to win.

Miriam Anahi Mayorga - Mayorga plays a very important role in the middle of Argentina's midfield. She is the main connection between the offense and the defense and she's a player who is rarely subbed off because of the effort she puts into each game. Regardless of whether Argentina is aggressive or defensive, you can be sure that Mayorga will play a big part in this match.
