Germany will play at Stade des Alpes when they take on Nigeria on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in a Women's World Cup matchup. The opening line for this game has Germany at -600 and Nigeria at +1300. The line on the game being a draw has been set at +575.

Group B winners Germany will be the favorites to make it into the quarterfinals of the World Cup when it goes up against Nigeria on Saturday afternoon. The Germans were able to sweep their three group stage matches after they scored six goals without conceding any. The Nigerians earned their spot in the last 16 thanks to a superior goal difference over other third-place finishers after they picked up three points and finished third in Group A.

The Germans, who came into the World Cup as one of the favorites to win it all, played excellent defense throughout the group stages and picked up timely goals when they needed them. Their attack struggled during their matches against China and Spain, but they seemed to figure it out when they defeated South Africa 4-0 on Monday. Germany should have the majority of the possession in this match against South Africa and should get plenty of opportunities in front of goal.

Key Players for Germany:

Sara Dabritz - The Bayern Munich midfielder has been excellent for Germany so far in this World Cup. She scored the winning goal against Spain and then followed that up with another score against South Africa. The 24-year-old now has 12 goals in 63 appearances for her national side and should play a big part again when she goes up against Nigeria on Saturday.

Alexandra Popp - Popp, who scored six goals in six matches during the qualification stages, wasn't able to get onto the score sheet until the third fixture during the group stages. That should give her some momentum going into this match, though, and Germany will need her to get her scoring boots on the rest of the way if they want to go far in this tournament.

The Nigerians were able to make it to the Round of 16 thanks in large part to their 2-0 upset over Korea in their second group stage fixture. They showed that they can play good team defense and that they can create chances off of the counterattack in that match. If they want any chance to beat the Germans in this matchup, they will need to put that type of performance together again and hope that it will be enough to edge out a win.

Key Players for Nigeria:

Chiamaka Cynthia Nnadozie - The Germans will be very aggressive in this match, so Nnadozie will need to play the game of her life to keep her team in it. The 18-year-old goalkeeper has just 13 caps to her name, but she held France to just one goal last Monday and picked up a shutout in that impressive win over Korea.

Rita Chikwelu - The veteran midfielder will need to play well on both sides of the ball to give Nigeria a chance in this one. Chikwelu lines up at just about every midfield spot for the Nigerians, using her pace and defensive abilities to slow down opposing attacks and to get the ball moving the other way.
