Uruguay will take on Saudi Arabia at Rostov Arena in a Group A matchup on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. The opening line for this World Cup matchup has Uruguay at -200 and Saudi Arabia at +750. The total opened at 2.25.

Uruguay will be looking to use its lethal offensive attack to keep Saudi Arabia off balance, while the Green Falcons will be hoping that they can do enough to steal a point or more from their opponents. Uruguay will be going into this matchup with 1/5 (or better odds to pull off the win.

Uruguay

It's really going to be a straightforward approach for Uruguay in this match: Relentlessly attack Saudi Arabia's defense and continue to put balls near the net. If they can do that, there's a pretty good chance that they will walk away with a multi-goal victory. Uruguay's defense isn't as strong as their attack, but they do have enough talent in the back to keep Saudi Arabia from scoring in this game. If things go as planned for the Uruguayans, this game could be the perfect opportunity for them to give big minutes to their youngsters in the second half. If they want to go far in this tournament, head coach Oscar Tabarez will want to find what his best lineup is as quickly as possible. If they go up by two or more goals, expect to see some early subs and some hungry young talent come off of the bench.

Maxi Gomez

Gomez will not be starting ahead of Edinson Cavani for Uruguay during the World Cup, but he will be next in line to get minutes up front and might even share some minutes with him. The 21-year-old has the size and the finishing ability to do some damage against opposing defenses in this group.

Matias Vecino

Defensive midfielder Vecino probably won't be making too many headlines during the World Cup, but the team knows he is an essential player. He does a great job of breaking up the play in the middle of the pitch and he takes care of the ball better than most players on this team.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is going to approach this game like they do most games: keep the score low and try to grab a surprise draw or even a win late on. The problem in this matchup, though, is that they are going to have a very tough time with Uruguay's high-possession, high-attacking offense. Even though most people will not be giving Saudi Arabia much of a chance in this game, they have shown in recent friendlies that they can keep good teams from scoring loads of goals against them. They lost 2-1 against the potent Germans earlier this month and they were defeated by the same score by Italy.

Fahad Al-Muwallad

This little winger can do some damage and probably has the highest chance of making a name for himself in this tournament for the Green Falcons. He's quick and he has great ball control, so his teammates will be hoping that he has the confidence to go straight at the Uruguayan defenders.

Omar Hawsawi

Most people probably have never heard of Hawsawi, but his teammates know that he will have to perform like a top center back if they are going to have any chance of moving forward. He's done well in recent friendlies, so there's hope he can keep Uruguay's top attackers from scoring loads of goals.
