On Saturday night, the St. Louis Blues will be facing off against the San Jose Sharks, who have won five out of their last six home games.

In their first meeting of the season, the Sharks were able to defeat the Blues 3-2 in overtime at home. The Blues weren't able to get any power play chances in that loss and they only ended up with 20 shots on goal.

Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has four goals and eight points in his 13 career games against the Sharks, while center Alex Steen has notched two goals and nine assists in his 17 games against them. Goalie Brian Elliott has a 2-2-1 record against San Jose in his career with a .914 save percentage and a 2.75 GAA.

On Wednesday night, the Sharks played a solid all-around game against the Anaheim Ducks and came away with a 3-0 shutout on the road. Veteran center Joe Pavelski was the MVP of that game by scoring two of his team's three goals.

The Sharks currently have one of the top power plays in the league by scoring on 22.9 percent of their chances with the extra man. Goaltender Antti Niemi now has a 15-8-4 record on the season with three shutouts, a 2.38 GAA and a .919 save percentage. Center Joe Thornton leads the team with 24 assists and 33 points.
