The San Jose Sharks will go on the road on Monday night to face the Winnipeg Jets in a game between two of the top 10 defenses in the league. In their first game against each other this season, the Sharks shut out the Jets 3-0 at home.

The Sharks had one of their worst defensive games of the season on Saturday night when the St. Louis Blues blew them out 7-2 in San Jose. They were 0-for-6 on the power play in that loss and were outshot 33-20.

Even with that loss on Saturday, the Sharks are still near the top of the Western Conference in goals against and power play percentage. Center Joe Pavelski leads the team in scoring this season with 20, and he is tied for the team lead in points with 33.

On Saturday night, the Jets played one of their best all-around hockey games of the season when they beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 on home ice. Their penalty kill held the Maple Leafs' power play goalless on their four chances with the extra man, and they ended up outshooting them 40-21 on the night.

Through 39 games, the Jets are in the top 10 in the league in both penalty kill percentage and goals against per game.
