The Nashville Predators will be going up against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday in a game between two of the better defensive teams in the NHL. Earlier this season, the Preds were able to defeat the Kings 4-3 in the shootout.

On Tuesday night, the Predators scored a late third-period goal to defeat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on home ice. They were 0-for-4 on the power play in that game, but they also outshot the Blues 47-28.

So far this season, the Predators have scored 2.8 goals per game while only giving up 2.1 goals per game. Center Filip Forsberg is playing at an All-Star level this season and is currently the team leader in points with 25 in 36 games played. Netminder Pekka Rinne is now 24-6-2 on the season with three shutouts and a very impressive 1.88 GAA.

On Thursday, the Kings scored two third-period goals to pull off a 3-2 comeback win over the Vancouver Canucks on the road. They scored on one of their four power play chances in that win and ended up outshooting Vancouver 40-16.

The Kings have one of the better defensive teams in the league this season by giving up about 2.3 goals per game. Their top offensive player has been center Jeff Carter, who has been able to notch 10 goals and 18 assists on the season.
