The Florida Panthers will be playing in the second of six consecutive road games when they visit the Washington Capitals on Sunday. The Panthers and the Caps have played each other twice so far this season, with both teams picking up a home win.

On Friday night, the Panthers snapped their two-game losing skid by beating the Buffalo Sabres 2-0 on the road. Veteran goalie Roberto Luongo picked up his second shutout of the season in that win by stopping all 30 of the Sabres' shots.

The Panthers have barely been able to score over two goals per game this season and are near the bottom of the league in power play percentage. Their best all-around player has been center Nick Bjugstad, who has 14 goals and eight assists in his 36 games this season.

In the Winter Classic on Thursday, the Capitals picked up an exciting 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. They were the more physical team in that win, outhitting the Blackhawks 24-10 to help them pick up the victory.

The Caps are currently in the top 10 in the league in scoring by averaging 2.9 goals per game. Left wing Alex Ovechkin now has 18 goals and 14 assists in 37 games this season, while center Nicklas Backstrom leads the team in points with 38. Netminder Braden Holtby has a 17-8-6 record with three shutouts, a 2.27 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
