The Columbus Blue Jackets, who are 2-4-0 against Central Division opponents this season, will be facing the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

During the 2013-14 season, the Avalanche were able to win both of their games against the Blue Jackets. They won their home game 5-3 early in the season, then defeated Columbus against in March by the score of 3-2 in overtime.

In his five career starts against the Avalanche, Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is 3-1-1 with a 2.51 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Defenseman Jack Johnson has one goal and seven assists in 23 games against Colorado, while left wing Scott Hartnell has notched seven goals and 11 assists in 31 career games against them.

The Avalanche have now won five out of their last seven games after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in the shootout. Goalie Semyon Varlamov saved 28 of the 29 shots that came his way in that win for a .964 save percentage.

Even with their recent hot streak, the Avalanche are still near the bottom of the Western Conference in both scoring and goals against per game. Varlamov now has a 7-7-5 record with two shutouts, a .914 save percentage and a 2.87 GAA. Veteran center Daniel Briere has just seven goals and two assists on the season, but he still leads the team with three game-winning goals.
