The Winnipeg Jets were able to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 in overtime the first and only other time the teams have met this season. Mark Scheifele put the Jets on the board first with his 10th goal of the season just over three minutes into the first period. Blake Wheeler doubled the hosts lead with a power-play tally three minutes later. After about 20 minutes of goalless action Dion Phaneuf cut the lead in half with a power-play goal of his own. Bryan Little scored yet another goal with the extra man to make it 3-1 Jets before Zach Bogosian made it 4-1 less than a minute later. Troy Bodie and Tim Gleason then scored for Toronto to make it 4-3 Jets heading into the third period.

With just a minute and a half left in regulation, Phil Kessel was able to complete Toronto's comeback by scoring his 27th of the season. It was a big point for the Maple Leafs, but that was all they would get as Dustin Byfuglien got the overtime winner for the Jets at the 2:44 mark of the extra period.

Little and Wheeler had a goal and an assist for the Jets in their win, while Andrew Ladd added two assists for the hosts.

Toronto's right wing Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist in the losing effort.
