In the final game before the Olympic break, the St. Louis Blues took out the Winnipeg Jets with two goals by T.J. Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko in a shootout win to take the game 4-3. The score doesn't tell the whole story. St Louis had a chance to score on eight power-play chances, but the Jets were able to hold them off every time. The Jets had five chances to score on power-plays and converted on one.

The first goal came by Brenden Morrow of St. Louis when he received a drop-in pass from Vladimir Tarasenko, and then shot it in from the left circle. The next goal came when the Jets' Mark Scheifele scored, who was assisted by Devin Setoguchi and Zach Bodosian to tie the game midway through the period. But with 2:22 left to go, Derek Roy scored his first goal in 25 games giving the Blues the lead before the break.

The second period only saw one goal by Mark Scheifele, assisted by Blake Wheeler and Chris Thorburn. The Blues came out hot in the third with a quick goal by Jaden Schwartz just 34 seconds in. The rest of the period was scoreless until Andrew Ladd took advantage of a power-play a little more than midway through the period. That goal prompted overtime where neither team scored a goal forcing a shootout. Jets' goalie Al Montoya was beat twice, while Brian Elliott of the Blues stayed perfect in the shutout and held on to the win.
