When the Winnipeg Jets visited the San Jose Sharks in late January, they got a great game from goalie Ondrej Pavelec, but they couldn't get enough shots on goal and lost the game 1-0. Pavelec finished the night with 31 saves, but the Sharks' Alex Stalock stopped all 20 shots he faced to get his second straight shutout.

The one goal that was scored in the game came on a Joe Pavelski rebound in the third period, which came after Pavelec stopped Justin Braun's shot. It was Pavelski's 28th goal of the season and came during a nice stretch for the veteran where he scored 19 goals in 21 games.

It looked as though the Sharks had gotten on the board in the second period when Pavelski put in a rebound. The goal was disallowed, though, because the refs said that Joe Thornton interfered with Pavelec. Replays showed that Thornton was actually hit into the goal area by Mark Stuart, but the bad call didn't hurt the Sharks in the end.

Even though San Jose came into the game with a superior record, the two teams looked quite even throughout the contest. The defenses, in particular, did a great job on the opposing offenses. However, that all changed when Winnipeg's Olli Jokinen lost the puck in the defensive zone which led to the only goal of the game.
