On Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets will attempt to pull off the upset when they visit the San Jose Sharks. The Jets beat the Sharks in two of their three games against each other last season.

Winnipeg scored four goals in the first period in their opener against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday and came away with a 6-2 win. The Jets got fantastic play in net from goaltender Ondrej Pavelec in that game while the offense made the most of their opportunities by scoring on six of their 27 shots.

Pavelec made 26 saves in that game against the Coyotes and ended up with a .929 save percentage. The top offensive player for the Jets was right wing Blake Wheeler, who had two goals and an assist in the win. Center Bryan Little had two goals and finished with a game-high plus-4 for Winnipeg.

On Wednesday, the Sharks were able to open up their season with a big 4-0 road win over the Los Angeles Kings. Their big period was the second when they were able to put three goals past Kings' goal Jonathan Quick.

In that game against the Kings, Sharks center Tommy Wingels scored two goals on his only two shots in the game. Veteran netminder Antti Niemi was able to stop all 34 shots that he faced for his first win and shutout of the year.
