Tuesday night, the Winnipeg Jets will start a 4 game road trip as they journey to Uniondale, New York to face the New York Islanders.
The Winnipeg Jets escaped with a 2 -1 overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche in their last game Sunday afternoon. The scoring came early in that game as the Jets struck first, with an Andrew Ladd goal that gave them the early lead. Colorado answered with seconds left in the first to tie it up. And that’s where the game stood for the next 2 periods as neither team could find their way to the back of the net. But at 4:35 into overtime, Bryan Little broke the tie with the game winner for the Jets. The Jets went 0 for 4 on the power play as their troubles continued when enjoying the man advantage. Winnipeg will need to get the power play going if they want to have any chance against the Islanders.
The New York Islanders had to battle in their Saturday night game against the Dallas Stars. But in the end, New York pulled out a 7 - 5 victory. New York was up 2 -1 after the 1st period but things got interesting in the 2nd. After going up 3 -1, the Islanders gave up 3 straight goals and had to fight to get the tying goal at the end of the 2nd. It would take a scorching 3rd period by New York’s Frans Nielsen to get the win. Nielsen got the hat trick in the final period to secure the win for the Islanders. Against Winnipeg, the Islanders might not face much resistance en route to the goal and another win could be on the horizon.
