On Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets will be visiting the Minnesota Wild in a game that will feature two of the best penalty killing units in the league. The Wild were able to beat the Jets in four out of their five matchups a season ago.
The Jets played an excellent offensive game on Tuesday night when they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1 on the road. Center Mathieu Perreault was the first star in that win, scoring two of Winnipeg's five goals.
The Jets are currently third in the NHL in goals against by giving up just 2.2 goals per game to their opponents. Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been able to score eight goals from the blue line this year and is one of the team leaders in assists with 11. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec is now 10-8-5 with a 2.34 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
On Tuesday night, the Wild lost their fourth game in a row when the Philadelphia Flyers came into town and beat them 5-2. Minnesota was 1-for-5 on the power play in that loss and ended up being outshot 30-24.
The Wild have done well to average 2.8 goals per game, but they have also allowed opposing offenses to score 2.8 goals per game against them. Netminder Darcy Kuemper has an 11-10-0 record this season with three shutouts, a 2.64 GAA and a .901 save percentage.
