Although the Winnipeg Jets have an almost impossible chance of securing a playoff spot, the last time they played the Stars they proved they were not going to lay down. The Jets put on a scoring clinic in three periods of play that helped them walk away with a victory 7-2 over the Stars.

It could have been worse for the Stars as they gave the Jets six power-play opportunities, but the Jets were only able to cash in on one. Trying to break a six-game losing streak for the Jets, Jacob Trouba got started early. Just 3:11 into the first he broke away and put the Jets up by one. But it would take only four minutes for Alex Chiasson of the Stars to respond. He got a goal by poking one past Jets Goalie Al Montoya. Just about 30 seconds later, Tyler Seguin got his 30th goal of the season, putting the Stars up one in the game. Unfortunately for the Stars, that was the end of the scoring for them. The Jets would go on to score six more goals including a power-play goal.

Two more goals were scored in the first by Michael Frolik and Tobias Enstrom, putting the Jets up by two going into the intermission. The second period saw two more goals, one by Olli Jokinen less than 30 seconds into the period, the other by Dustin Byfuglien, about 16 minutes into the period. That goal was a power-play for the Jets, assisted by Jokinen. Two more goals came in the third period, when Jokinen scored another early goal and Evander Kane just added insult to injury when he scored, making the game a runaway 7-2 win.
