Tuesday night, the Winnipeg Jets will travel to the Nationwide Arena to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.  

The Winnipeg Jets will make the first stop on a three game road trip Tuesday night in Columbus.  They come in after falling 4 -2 to the St. Louis Blues at home on Sunday afternoon.  Winnipeg’s Bryan Little had the only score of the game in the 1st period and that put Winnipeg up going into the 2nd period.  Even after St. Louis tied it up early in the 2nd, Winnipeg regained the lead on a Jim Slater goal minutes later.  But things went downhill for the Jets after that.  They gave up the tying goal late in the period and then allowed 2 goals in the 3rd that cemented the loss.  The penalty kill failed once again for the Jets as they allowed 2 goals on 5 power play opportunities for the Blues.  The penalty killing unit is a main reason why the Jets are just 1 - 4 in their last 5 and Winnipeg will see a solid power play when they face Columbus. 

The Columbus Blue Jackets lost their 3rd straight on Saturday night as they got beaten 4 -2 by the Philadelphia Flyers.  Philadelphia lit the lamp first but Boone Jenner tied it up just minutes later.  But Columbus couldn’t stop the Flyers as they tried to end their own losing streak.  Philadelphia regained the lead to end the period and scored the only goal of the 2nd to make it a 3 -1 game going into the 3rd.  Matt Calvert cut the lead to 3 -2 with a goal early in the 3rd but the Flyers added one more to seal the win.   Columbus is just 3 - 12 in their last 15 games and although the power play is working for them, nothing else seems to be.
